Who delivers electricity in Rogers

Oncor owns and maintains the poles, wires, and meters in Rogers. Whichever plan you pick, Oncor still delivers the power and restores outages — switching providers never changes your wires. Every price on this page already includes Oncor delivery charges. If a rate elsewhere looks lower, check whether delivery is in it yet.

Quick answers

Rogers electricity questions, answered

As of August 2026, plans we offer in the Oncor territory average 15.3¢ per kWh at 1,000 kWh of monthly use, and today’s lowest effective rate is 6.8¢. Advertised rates move with your usage, so price plans at your own numbers.

Oncor is Rogers’s transmission and delivery utility. It owns the wires and meters and restores outages. You choose your retail electricity provider; Oncor delivers no matter who you pick.

Yes — most Rogers addresses have smart meters, so orders placed by 5 p.m. on a business day can start the same day. Pick your start date at checkout, up to 90 days ahead.

Compare effective rates at YOUR usage, not advertised rates — fees and bill credits bend each plan differently. Check the contract length and cancellation fee, then confirm delivery charges are included. The tables on this page do all three, and checkout takes about ten minutes.

Yes. Texas law gives you a 14-day window before your contract end date to switch with NO early-termination fee. Find your end date on your bill, then shop it today — the expensive move is drifting onto a holdover rate.

It changes with your usage. The lowest effective rate we price in Rogers today is 6.8¢ per kWh at 1,000 kWh — but a plan that wins at 1,000 kWh can lose at 2,000. Enter your ZIP and usage to see which company is cheapest for your home.

As a resident or business owner within Rogers, you can choose the electricity provider that best meets your needs.

These official rates are the same prices you’ll find calling the energy companies or visiting their websites.

Plans from several different energy companies are presented in a simple format that makes comparing your options simple and quick.

This assists Texas consumers in avoiding hidden fees and advertising gimmicks by comparing plans “apples-to-apples” without consuming hours and hours calling different energy companies or clicking around on dozens of different online sites.

Electricity in Rogers has been deregulated. As a resident, you have a choice when selecting a retail electricity provider (your electricity company), which gives you control and power over your energy bill.

Deregulation of electricity in the state de-monopolized the energy market for most of Texas, the city of Rogers included, which introduced massive competition.

As a result, many fantastic power companies compete for your business in Rogers by offering low prices, making it a great time to shop, switch, and lower costs on your energy statement.

As many as 100+ retail electricity providers compete for your business in Rogers, and hundreds of plans exist to sort through.

How to Find the Best Energy Plan in Rogers

#1 rule: Usage is king!

Knowing how much electricity you will use monthly is the ideal way to shop for energy in Rogers. Why is this so vital?

The rate you see power providers advertising is for an exact monthly usage (usually 2000 kWh).

Every plan uses a different calculation for how your monthly bill is determined, and your monthly bill will vary depending on how much power you use each month.

Unless you match the exact advertised usage each month, you will pay a “price per kWh” different than the one you saw advertised when you enrolled.

Fortunately, there’s a better way to pick your energy company.

Calculating your expected monthly bill based on estimated monthly usage, then comparing options by total monthly cost is the best way to shop for the best rate for your household.

Better still, if you have 12 months of usage history for your household, you can compare plans by total annual cost. This annualized method considers the changes in usage between the summer and winter months and is the ideal way to find the right electricity plan for your home.

Compare Power does all the complicated math for you in an instant. What takes hours inside a spreadsheet is now solved in a few moments.

We put the power in your hands, taking what would amount to hours of research, spreadsheets, and computations across hundreds of plans and guiding you step-by-step to the electricity plan that’s best for your home’s consumption.

We clarify the fine print, disclosing all fees, so you’ll know precisely where your money is going and what to anticipate on your monthly bill.

We then assist you in signing up with your chosen power company without ever having to leave our website.

The bottom line is you should determine your expected or historical usage before ordering the best electricity plan for your home.

If you don’t know your usage, estimate

If you cannot acquire 12 months of historical usage or own a brand new home, the next best thing is to estimate how much energy you will use in an average month.

While not as optimal as having all the previous 12 months of usage, estimating your average usage is better than blindly choosing the first plan you see advertised by an electricity provider at a specific usage that isn’t what you’ll consume.

Use Compare Power to find the best energy plan for your specific usage.

Moving to Rogers: Setting up Electricity

If this is your first time setting up electricity service in Rogers, to get the best rate, you need to get the previous 12 months of energy usage for your new home.

Ask the previous homeowner to provide you with their past 12 months of usage.

This information is readily found in recent billing statements.

Acquiring usage for the past 12 months may take effort, but the time (and savings) will be well worth it.

Once you have historical usage, Compare Power will do the math instantly to help you find the best plan for your home’s usage pattern.

Note: If you cannot obtain historical usage information, a second option would be to estimate your future usage using our “Help Me Choose” tool. By simply entering your zip code, the tool can assess your home’s projected electricity consumption.

Sign-up for a plan in minutes through Compare Power. We will remind you when it’s time to return to switch and save at the end of the plan length you decide on.

Switching Electricity Companies in Rogers

Switching is good. Market conditions are constantly changing, so it is essential to shop for a lower price every year when your contract is close to expiring.

Your existing energy provider will typically raise your electricity rate once your term expires. If you fail to take action, you’ll be left on a month-to-month rate significantly higher than the plan you signed up for.

Electric plug on hundred dollar bills with utility bill showing balance and electric charges

Before renewing your contract, shop the rates of competing electricity companies.

Switching can save you hundreds or thousands of dollars yearly on your electricity bill.

Switching is easy:

  • You don’t have to call your current company to cancel (no “break-up call”)
  • No one comes to your home
  • There is no disruption in your power supply
  • It takes just minutes

When you switch, your new energy company will cover everything, including terminating service with your previous provider.

There is no loss of power when you switch. Electricity in Rogers is all delivered by the Oncor Transmission and Distribution Utility.

The wires and poles that deliver power to your home do not change when you switch electricity providers. Therefore the reliability of your service is not affected.

You can pick any date up to 14 days early from your current contract’s end date without an “early cancellation” penalty. That’s Texas Law.

If you’re still under contract, find out how many months remain on your contract. You can set a future start date with most companies up to 6o days in advance.

And even if you’re well inside your contract, savings achieved on your monthly bill by switching companies may outweigh the fee to break your existing contract.

If you’re ready to switch and would like to know how to find the best plan remember that understanding your usage is the best way to find the cheapest rate.

You will want to find your historical usage for the past 12 months to determine the best plan with the lowest rate for your household.

Rogers Electricity Rates FAQs

Did You Know?

HISTORICAL

Rogers was founded in 1881 as a railroad town along the Missouri, Kansas and Texas Railroad, originally named 'Rogers Prairie' after an early settler family. The town served as a crucial shipping point for cotton and cattle from the surrounding Blackland Prairie, with the railroad bringing prosperity and growth to this small Bell County community during the late 19th century.

RECENT

In 2020, Rogers completed a major downtown revitalization project that restored several historic buildings along Main Street and added new sidewalks and period lighting. The project was funded through a combination of state grants and local fundraising efforts, breathing new life into the small town's commercial district and attracting new businesses to the area.

FAMOUS PEOPLE

Rogers was the childhood home of country music songwriter Red Lane, who penned numerous hits for major artists including 'The World Needs a Melody' recorded by Wynonna Judd and 'If You're Not Gone Too Long' by Merle Haggard. Lane grew up on a farm outside Rogers in the 1940s and often credited his small-town Texas upbringing for inspiring his authentic country music storytelling style.

DID YOU KNOW

Rogers is home to one of the oldest continuously operating general stores in Central Texas, established in 1885 and still serving the community today with original wooden floors and vintage fixtures. The store has survived the Great Depression, two world wars, and countless economic changes, and still maintains its original cash register from the 1890s that occasionally rings up purchases for curious visitors.

CULTURAL

Every October, Rogers hosts the annual 'Prairie Days Festival' featuring authentic chuck wagon cooking, blacksmithing demonstrations, and vintage tractor displays that celebrate the town's agricultural heritage. The festival draws visitors from across Central Texas who come to experience traditional crafts and skills that were essential to prairie life, with many demonstrations conducted by local families whose ancestors were original settlers in the area.
