Who delivers electricity in Pantego

Oncor owns and maintains the poles, wires, and meters in Pantego. Whichever plan you pick, Oncor still delivers the power and restores outages — switching providers never changes your wires. Every price on this page already includes Oncor delivery charges. If a rate elsewhere looks lower, check whether delivery is in it yet.

Quick answers

Pantego electricity questions, answered

As of August 2026, plans we offer in the Oncor territory average 15.3¢ per kWh at 1,000 kWh of monthly use, and today’s lowest effective rate is 6.8¢. Advertised rates move with your usage, so price plans at your own numbers.

Oncor is Pantego’s transmission and delivery utility. It owns the wires and meters and restores outages. You choose your retail electricity provider; Oncor delivers no matter who you pick.

Yes — most Pantego addresses have smart meters, so orders placed by 5 p.m. on a business day can start the same day. Pick your start date at checkout, up to 90 days ahead.

Compare effective rates at YOUR usage, not advertised rates — fees and bill credits bend each plan differently. Check the contract length and cancellation fee, then confirm delivery charges are included. The tables on this page do all three, and checkout takes about ten minutes.

Yes. Texas law gives you a 14-day window before your contract end date to switch with NO early-termination fee. Find your end date on your bill, then shop it today — the expensive move is drifting onto a holdover rate.

It changes with your usage. The lowest effective rate we price in Pantego today is 6.8¢ per kWh at 1,000 kWh — but a plan that wins at 1,000 kWh can lose at 2,000. Enter your ZIP and usage to see which company is cheapest for your home.

We currently price 122 plans in Pantego, every one from a PUCT-licensed provider we work with, priced with delivery included.

You have the power to choose your household’s electric company in Pantego.

Compare Power is a free consumer service started in 2009 to assist residents of Pantego in searching for their lowest-rate energy plan.

Plan information is presented in a user-friendly format that enables quick and simple comparison of available plans and options.

Plans from many different electricity providers are presented in a powerful format that makes evaluating alternatives simple and quick.

This assists Texas energy customers in avoiding hidden charges and marketing gimmicks by comparing plans “apples-to-apples” without throwing away hours and hours making phone calls or navigating hundreds of different websites.

Electricity in Pantego, Texas, is deregulated. As an energy consumer, you can choose a retail electricity provider (your energy company), which gives you control and power over your energy bill.

Deregulation of electricity in Texas de-monopolized the electricity market for most of Texas, the city of Pantego included, which introduced massive competition.

As a result, many excellent retail electricity providers compete for your business in Pantego by offering low prices, making it a great time to compare, switch, and lower costs on your energy bill.

As many as 60-100 retail electricity providers compete for your account in Pantego, and hundreds of plans exist to sort through.

How to Find the Best Energy Plan in Pantego

#1 rule: Usage is king!

Determining the amount of energy you will consume each month is the ideal way to find a deal on electricity in Pantego. Why should you care?

The rate electricity providers advertise for an exact monthly usage (typically 1000 kWh).

Every plan uses a different equation for how your monthly bill is determined, and your monthly bill will be determined by how much energy you consume in a month.

Unless you use exactly the advertised amount each month, you will end up paying an effective “price per kWh” different than the one you saw advertised when you ordered.

Fortunately, there’s a better way to choose your electricity rate.

Calculating your expected monthly bill based on expected monthly usage, then comparing rates by total monthly cost is the best way to shop for the best rate for your home.

Better still, if you have a year of usage history for your household, you can compare plans by total annual cost. This annualized method considers the changes in usage between the summer and winter months and is the best way to find the right electricity plan for your home.

Compare Power does all the complicated math for you instantly. What could take you hours inside a spreadsheet is solved briefly.

We put you in the driver’s seat, taking what would amount to hours of research, spreadsheets, and calculations across hundreds of plans and assisting you step-by-step with the electricity rate plan that’s best for your household’s consumption.

We clarify the fine print, disclosing all fees, so you’ll know precisely where your money is going and what to anticipate on your bill.

We then assist you in ordering your plan with your chosen electricity company without leaving our service.

The bottom line is you must understand your expected or historical usage before picking the right electricity plan for your home.

If you don’t know your usage, estimate

If you cannot acquire 12 months of historical usage or own a brand new home, the next best thing is to estimate how much energy you will use in an average month.

Although knowing the previous 12 months of usage is optimum, it is far better to estimate the average energy consumption than to select the first electricity provider that you see advertised. After all, you have no idea how much energy you will use at that point.

Use Compare Power to shop for the best energy plan for your specific usage.

Moving to Pantego: Setting up Electricity

If this is your first time setting up electricity service in Pantego, you need to get the previous 12 months of energy usage for your new home to get the best rate.

Ask the previous homeowner to provide you with their past 12 months of usage.

This information is readily found in recent billing statements.

Acquiring usage for the past 12 months may take effort, but the time (and savings) will be well worth it.

Once you have historical usage, Compare Power will do the math instantly to help you find the best plan for your home’s usage pattern.

Note: If you cannot obtain historical usage information, a second option would be to estimate your future usage using our “Help Me Choose” tool. By simply entering your zip code, the tool will be able to assess your home’s projected electricity consumption.

By signing up for a plan through Compare Power you will receive automated reminders when it’s time to renew your existing plan or switch plans.

Switching electricity companies in Pantego

Switching is good. Market conditions are always changing, so it is important to shop for a lower rate each year when your contract is about to expire.

Your existing electricity company will normally raise your energy rate once your contract expires. If you fail to take action, you’ll be left on a month-to-month rate significantly higher than the plan you signed up for.

Electric plug on hundred dollar bills with utility bill showing balance and electric charges

Before renewing your contract, shop the rates of competing energy companies.

Switching can save you hundreds or thousands of dollars yearly on your electricity bill.

Switching is easy:

  • You don’t have to call your current provider to cancel (no “break-up call”)
  • No one comes to your home
  • There is no disruption in your electricity supply
  • It takes just minutes

When you switch, your new energy provider will take care of everything, including terminating service with your previous company.

There is no loss of power when you switch. Electricity in Pantego is all delivered by the Oncor Transmission and Distribution Utility.

The wires and poles that deliver power to your home do not change when you switch energy companies. Therefore the reliability of your service is not affected.

You can pick any date up to 14 days early from your current contract’s end date without an “early termination” fee. That’s Texas Law.

If you’re still under contract, check how many months remain on your contract. You can set a future start date with most providers up to 6o days in advance.

And even if you’re well inside your contract, savings achieved on your monthly bill by switching companies may outweigh the fee to break your existing contract.

If you’re ready to switch and would like to know how to find the best plan remember that knowing your usage is the best way to find the best rate.

Keep in mind that when you get ready to switch and you want to know the most efficient way to find the right plan at the best rate, it is essential that you first understand your usage. To accomplish that, you must collect the usage history for the past 12 months.

Pantego Electricity Rates FAQs

Did You Know?

HISTORICAL

Pantego was founded in 1952 as one of Texas's newest incorporated cities, created when residents of a small unincorporated area between Arlington and Fort Worth decided they wanted local control over their community. The city was incorporated specifically to prevent annexation by neighboring Arlington, making it one of the few Texas cities founded primarily as a defensive measure against municipal expansion.

RECENT

In 2020, Pantego completed a major infrastructure upgrade project that replaced nearly all of the city's aging water lines and installed smart water meters throughout the community. This $2.3 million project reduced water loss by over 40% and gave residents real-time access to their water usage data through a mobile app.

FAMOUS PEOPLE

Country music star LeAnn Rimes lived in Pantego during her early career in the 1990s when she was recording her breakthrough albums. She often mentioned the small-town community feel of Pantego in interviews, crediting the supportive neighbors for helping her family navigate her rapid rise to fame as a teenager.

DID YOU KNOW

Despite being only 0.7 square miles in size, Pantego operates its own municipal court, police department, and city services completely independently from surrounding Arlington. The city is so small that the mayor and city council members often personally know most of the 2,400 residents by name, making it one of the most intimate municipal governments in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.

CULTURAL

Pantego holds an annual 'Founders Day' celebration every October that features a unique tradition called the 'Smallest Parade in Texas,' where the entire community participates in a parade that takes less than 10 minutes to complete from start to finish. The parade route covers just four blocks, but includes fire trucks, police cars, decorated golf carts, and nearly every resident either participating or watching from their front yards.
