How to Find the Best Energy Plan in Neylandville

#1 rule: Usage is key!

Knowing how much energy you will use each month is the ideal way to find a deal on power in Neylandville. Why should you care?

The “price per kWh” you see power providers advertising is for an exact monthly usage (usually 2000 kWh).

Every plan uses a different equation for how your monthly statement is determined, and your monthly bill will change according to how much power you use in the month.

Unless you use exactly the advertised amount each month, you will end up paying an effective “price per kWh” different than the one you saw advertised when you signed up.

Thankfully, there’s a better way to choose your energy plan.

Calculating your expected monthly bill based on estimated monthly usage, then comparing options by total monthly cost is the best way to shop for the best rate for your home.

Better yet, if you have 12 months of usage history for your household, you can compare plans by total annual cost. This annualized method considers the changes in usage between the summer and winter months and is the ideal way to determine the perfect electricity plan for your home.

Compare Power does all this math for you instantly. What takes hours on a spreadsheet is now done in a few moments.

We put the power in your hands, taking what would amount to hours of investigation, spreadsheets, and calculations across hundreds of offers and assisting you step-by-step with the electricity plan that’s best for your household’s consumption.

We clarify the details, disclosing the various charges, so you’ll know precisely where your money is going and what to anticipate on your bill.

We then help you enroll with your selected power provider without ever leaving our service.

The takeaway here is you must know your expected or historical usage before choosing the right energy plan for your home.

If you don’t know your usage, estimate

Suppose you recently purchased a home or business or cannot obtain 12 months of usage history. In that case, you can always estimate your average monthly energy usage.

While not as optimal as having all the previous 12 months of usage, estimating your average usage is better than blindly choosing the first plan you see advertised by an energy company at a specific usage that isn’t what you’ll consume.

Use Compare Power to shop for the best electricity plan for your specific usage.

Moving to Neylandville: Setting up Electricity

If this is your first time setting up electricity service in Neylandville, to get the best rate, you need to get the previous 12 months of energy usage for your new home.

Ask the previous homeowner to provide you with their past 12 months of usage.

This information is readily found in recent billing statements.

Acquiring usage for the past 12 months may take effort, but the time (and savings) will be well worth it.

Once you have historical usage, Compare Power will do the math instantly to help you find the best plan for your home’s usage pattern.

Note: You can estimate your monthly usage if you can’t obtain a usage history. Utilize our “Help Me Choose” tool when you enter your zip code below, and we’ll help you evaluate your home’s usage.

By signing up for a plan through Compare Power you will receive automated reminders when it’s time to renew your existing plan or switch plans.

Switching Electricity Companies in Neylandville

Switching is good. Market conditions are always in flux, so it is important to shop for a lower rate every year when your contract is close to expiring.

Your existing electricity provider will normally raise your energy rate once your term expires. If you do not act, you’ll be left on a month-to-month rate significantly higher than the plan you signed up for.

Electric plug on hundred dollar bills with utility bill showing balance and electric charges

Before renewing your contract, shop the rates of competing electricity providers.

Switching can save you hundreds or thousands of dollars yearly on your energy bill.

Switching is easy:

  • You don’t have to contact your current company to cancel (no “break-up call”)
  • No one comes to your home
  • There is no disruption in your electricity supply
  • It takes just minutes

When you decide to switch, your new electricity company will handle everything for you, including canceling service with your previous company.

There is no loss of power when you switch. Electricity in Neylandville is all delivered by the Oncor Transmission and Distribution Utility.

The wires and poles that deliver electricity to your home do not change when you switch energy companies. Therefore the reliability of your service is not affected.

You can choose any date up to 14 days before your contract’s end date without an “early termination” fee. Texas law protects you here.

If you’re still under contract, find out how many months remain on your contract. You can set a future start date with most companies up to 6o days in advance.

And even if you’re well inside your contract, savings achieved on your monthly bill by switching providers may outweigh the fee to break your existing contract.

If you’re ready to switch and would like to know how to find the best plan remember that understanding your usage is the best way to find the best rate.

You will want to find your past usage for the past 12 months to determine the best plan with the lowest rate for your household.

Neylandville Electricity Rates FAQs

Did You Know?

HISTORICAL

Neylandville was founded in 1902 as a lumber town during the East Texas timber boom, named after the Neyland family who owned significant timber holdings in the area. The town was strategically located along the Trinity and Sabine Railway, which transported massive pine logs from the surrounding Big Thicket forests to sawmills throughout East Texas. At its peak in the 1920s, the town supported over 2,000 residents working in the lumber industry before the forests were depleted.

RECENT

In 2019, Neylandville completed a major downtown revitalization project that restored several historic buildings from the lumber era and created a small heritage district. The project included converting the old company store into a community center and establishing a walking trail that connects to the nearby Big Thicket National Preserve. This initiative has attracted eco-tourists and history buffs to the previously overlooked small town.

OTHER

FAMOUS PEOPLE/EVENTS: Country music songwriter Don Cook, who penned hits for George Strait and Brooks & Dunn, spent part of his childhood in Neylandville during the 1960s. Cook later credited the small-town atmosphere and the stories told by old-timers about the lumber boom days as major influences on his songwriting style. He wrote the George Strait hit 'Carrying Your Love with Me' while reminiscing about his time in the East Texas woods around Neylandville.

DID YOU KNOW

Neylandville sits on the edge of the Big Thicket, and the town's original cemetery contains graves of several lumber workers who died in a mysterious 1918 incident involving a 'ghost light' that allegedly led them into the swamp. Local folklore claims the incident inspired part of the legend of the Bragg Road Ghost Light, one of Texas's most famous paranormal phenomena located just 20 miles away. The cemetery still attracts paranormal investigators who believe the area has unusual electromagnetic properties.

CULTURAL

Every October, Neylandville hosts the 'Timber Days Festival' where residents recreate the lumber camp life of the early 1900s, complete with crosscut saw competitions, log rolling contests, and demonstrations of historic logging equipment. The festival features authentic chuck wagon cooking and storytelling sessions where elderly residents share oral histories passed down from the original lumber workers. Local families have preserved many artifacts from the lumber era, including original company scrip (private currency) that workers were paid with instead of regular money.
