Compare effective rates at YOUR usage, not advertised rates — fees and bill credits bend each plan differently. Check the contract length and cancellation fee, then confirm delivery charges are included. The tables on this page do all three, and checkout takes about ten minutes.

Yes. Texas law gives you a 14-day window before your contract end date to switch with NO early-termination fee. Find your end date on your bill, then shop it today — the expensive move is drifting onto a holdover rate.

How to find the best energy plan in La Rosita

#1 rule: Usage is king!

Discovering how much energy you will consume monthly is the ideal way to shop for energy in La Rosita. Why is this important?

You see power companies advertising the “price per kWh” for an exact monthly usage (usually 1000 kWh).

Every plan has a different calculation for how your monthly statement is determined, and your monthly bill will change according to how much power you use in the month.

Unless you match the exact advertised usage each month, you will end up paying an effective “price per kWh” different than the one you saw advertised when you signed up.

Fortunately, there’s a better way to select your electricity rate.

Calculating your total monthly bill based on estimated monthly usage, then comparing plans by the total monthly bill is the best way to shop for the lowest rate for your home.

Even better, if you have a year of usage history for your home, you can compare plans by total annual cost. This annualized method considers the changes in usage between summer and winter months and is the absolute best way to discover the ideal electricity plan for your home.

Compare Power does all the complicated math for you instantly. What takes hours inside a spreadsheet is now solved in just moments.

We put you in the driver’s seat, taking what would amount to hours of research, spreadsheets, and calculations across hundreds of offers and assisting you step-by-step with the energy plan that’s best for your household’s consumption.

We clarify the details, disclosing all fees, so you’ll know exactly where your money goes and what to expect on your bill.

We then assist you in enrolling with your selected power provider without leaving our service.

The takeaway here is you must determine your expected or historical usage before ordering the best energy plan for your home.

If you don’t know your usage, estimate

If you cannot acquire 12 months of historical usage or own a brand new home, the next best thing is to estimate how much energy you will use in an average month.

Although knowing the previous 12 months of usage is optimum, it is far better to estimate the average energy consumption than to select the first electricity provider that you see advertised. After all, you have no idea how much energy you will use at that point.

Use Compare Power to find the best electricity plan for your specific usage.

Moving to La Rosita: Setting up Electricity

If this is your first time setting up electricity service in La Rosita, to get the best rate, you need to get the previous 12 months of energy usage for your new home.

Ask the previous homeowner to provide you with their past 12 months of usage.

This information is readily found in recent billing statements.

Acquiring usage for the past 12 months may take effort, but the time (and savings) will be well worth it.

Once you have historical usage, Compare Power will do the math instantly to help you find the best plan for your home’s usage pattern.

Note: You can estimate your monthly usage if you can’t obtain a usage history. Utilize our “Help Me Choose” tool when you enter your zip code below, and we’ll help you evaluate your home’s usage.

Sign-up for a plan instantly through Compare Power. We will remind you when it’s time to return to switch and save at the end of the plan length you decide on.

Switching Electricity Companies in La Rosita

Switching is good. Market conditions are always in flux, so it is essential to shop for a lower rate every year when your contract is close to expiring.

Your existing electricity company will normally raise your electricity rate once your contract expires. If you do not act, you’ll be left on a month-to-month rate significantly more than the plan you signed up for.

Electric plug on hundred dollar bills with utility bill showing balance and electric charges

Before renewing your contract, check the rates of competing electricity providers.

Switching can save you hundreds or thousands of dollars yearly on your electricity bill.

Switching is easy:

  • You don’t have to contact your current provider to cancel (no “break-up call”)
  • No one comes to your home
  • There is no disruption in your electricity supply
  • It takes just minutes

When you switch, your new electricity provider will handle everything for you, including canceling service with your previous company.

Your lights stay on when you switch. Electricity in La Rosita is all delivered by the Oncor Transmission and Distribution Utility.

The wires and poles that deliver power to your home do not change when you switch energy companies. Therefore the reliability of your service is not affected.

You can pick any date up to 14 days early from your current contract’s end date without an “early cancellation” penalty. Texas law protects you here.

If you’re still under contract, find out how many months remain on your contract. You can set a future start date with most companies up to 6o days in advance.

The amount saved each month by switching to a different electricity company may outweigh the one-time fee to get out of your contract early.

If you’re ready to switch and would like to know how to find the best plan remember that knowing your usage is the best way to find the lowest rate.

You will want to gather your past usage for the past 12 months to determine the best plan with the lowest rate for your household.

La Rosita Electricity Rates FAQs

Did You Know?

HISTORICAL

La Rosita was established in the early 1900s as a small farming community along the Rio Grande, originally settled by Mexican ranchers who crossed the river seeking better grazing land for their cattle. The town's name, meaning 'little rose' in Spanish, was chosen to honor the wild roses that bloomed abundantly along the riverbanks each spring, creating a natural border of pink and white flowers that could be seen for miles.

RECENT

In 2020, La Rosita became part of a major border security initiative when the U.S. Border Patrol established a new forward operating base just outside the community. This development brought increased federal investment to the area, including improved roads and communication infrastructure, while also creating new employment opportunities for local residents in support services and logistics.

OTHER

FAMOUS PEOPLE/EVENTS: La Rosita gained national attention in 1999 when local resident Maria Gonzalez discovered a cache of Spanish colonial artifacts while digging a well on her property. The find included silver coins dating to the 1700s and pottery fragments, leading archaeologists to believe the area was once a stopping point for Spanish treasure trains traveling between Mexico and San Antonio along the old Camino Real.

DID YOU KNOW

La Rosita is home to one of the last remaining hand-operated ferry crossings on the Rio Grande, operated by the same family for over 80 years. The tiny wooden ferry, which can carry only two cars at a time, still operates daily and is used by residents on both sides of the border for everything from grocery shopping to attending family celebrations, making it one of the most informal international border crossings in North America.

OTHER

CULTURAL/UNIQUE: Every December, La Rosita hosts the 'Festival de las Rosas Eternas' (Festival of Eternal Roses), where families create elaborate rose-shaped luminarias from paper bags and candles to line the streets on Christmas Eve. This tradition began during the Great Depression when the community was too poor to afford traditional Christmas decorations, so residents used what they had to create beauty, and the festival has continued for over 90 years as a symbol of resilience and creativity.
