Who delivers electricity in Hubbard

Oncor owns and maintains the poles, wires, and meters in Hubbard. Whichever plan you pick, Oncor still delivers the power and restores outages — switching providers never changes your wires. Every price on this page already includes Oncor delivery charges. If a rate elsewhere looks lower, check whether delivery is in it yet.

Quick answers

Hubbard electricity questions, answered

As of August 2026, plans we offer in the Oncor territory average 15.3¢ per kWh at 1,000 kWh of monthly use, and today’s lowest effective rate is 6.8¢. Advertised rates move with your usage, so price plans at your own numbers.

Oncor is Hubbard’s transmission and delivery utility. It owns the wires and meters and restores outages. You choose your retail electricity provider; Oncor delivers no matter who you pick.

Yes — most Hubbard addresses have smart meters, so orders placed by 5 p.m. on a business day can start the same day. Pick your start date at checkout, up to 90 days ahead.

Compare effective rates at YOUR usage, not advertised rates — fees and bill credits bend each plan differently. Check the contract length and cancellation fee, then confirm delivery charges are included. The tables on this page do all three, and checkout takes about ten minutes.

Yes. Texas law gives you a 14-day window before your contract end date to switch with NO early-termination fee. Find your end date on your bill, then shop it today — the expensive move is drifting onto a holdover rate.

It changes with your usage. The lowest effective rate we price in Hubbard today is 6.8¢ per kWh at 1,000 kWh — but a plan that wins at 1,000 kWh can lose at 2,000. Enter your ZIP and usage to see which company is cheapest for your home.

We currently price 122 plans in Hubbard, every one from a PUCT-licensed provider we work with, priced with delivery included.

How to find the best energy plan in Hubbard

#1 rule: Determine what your usage is!

Determining how much electricity you will use in a month is the best way to shop for power in Hubbard. Why is this important?

You see energy providers advertising the “price per kWh” for an exact monthly usage (typically 2000 kWh).

Every plan uses a different equation for how your monthly bill is calculated, and your monthly bill will change according to how much energy you use each month.

Unless you use the advertised amount each month, you will end up paying a “price per kWh” different than what you observed when you signed up.

Thankfully, there’s a better way to pick your electricity plan.

Calculating your total monthly bill based on expected monthly usage, then comparing rates by total monthly cost is the best way to shop for the lowest rate for your home.

Better yet, if you have 12 months of usage history for your household, you can compare plans by total annual cost. This annualized method considers the changes in usage between the summer and winter months and is the ideal way to find the perfect electricity rate plan for your home.

Compare Power does all the complicated math for you in an instant. What could take you hours on a spreadsheet is now done in a few moments.

We put you in the driver’s seat, taking what would amount to hours of investigation, spreadsheets, and calculations across hundreds of plans, and guide you step-by-step to the energy plan that’s best for your home’s consumption.

We clarify the details, disclosing the various charges, so you’ll know precisely where your money is going and what to expect on your monthly bill.

We then help you sign up with your chosen power company without leaving our service.

The takeaway here is you must know your expected or historical usage before ordering the right energy plan for your home.

If you don’t know your usage, estimate

If you recently purchased a home or business, or you cannot obtain 12 months of usage history, you can always estimate the average amount of energy that you will use in any given month.

Although knowing the previous 12 months of usage is optimum, it is far better to estimate the average energy consumption than to select the first electricity provider that you see advertised. After all, you have no idea how much energy you will use at that point.

Use Compare Power to shop for the best electricity plan for your**specific usage.

Moving to Hubbard: Setting up electricity

If this is your first time setting up an electricity service in Hubbard, you need to get the previous 12 months of energy usage for your new home to get the best rate.

Ask the previous homeowner to provide you with their past 12 months of usage.

This information is readily found in recent billing statements.

Acquiring usage for the past 12 months may take effort, but the time (and savings) will be well worth it.

Once you have historical usage, Compare Power will do the math instantly to help you find the best plan for your home’s usage pattern.

Note: If you can’t obtain a usage history, you can estimate your monthly usage instead. Utilize our “Help Me Choose” tool when you enter your zip code below, and we’ll help you evaluate your home’s usage.

Sign-up for a plan in minutes through Compare Power. We will remind you when it’s time to return to switch and save at the end of the plan length you decide on.

Switching electricity companies in Hubbard

Switching is good. Market conditions are constantly changing, so it is essential to shop for a lower price each year when your contract expires.

Your existing energy company will generally raise your electricity rate once your term expires. If you do not take action, you’ll be left on a month-to-month rate significantly higher than the plan you signed up for.

Electric plug on hundred dollar bills with utility bill showing balance and electric charges

Before renewing your contract, check the rates of competing energy companies.

Switching can save you hundreds or thousands of dollars yearly on your electricity bill.

Switching is easy:

When you switch, your new electricity company will take care of everything for you, including terminating service with your previous provider.

There is no loss of power when you switch. Electricity in Hubbard is all delivered by the Oncor Transmission and Distribution Utility.

The wires and poles that deliver power to your home do not change when you switch energy providers. Therefore the reliability of your service is not affected.

You can pick any date up to 14 days before your current contract’s end date without an “early cancellation” fee. Texas law protects you here.

If you’re still under contract, check how many months remain on your contract. You can set a future start date with most providers up to 6o days in advance.

And even if you’re well inside your contract, savings achieved on your monthly bill by switching companies may outweigh the fee of breaking your existing contract.

If you’re ready to switch and want to know how to find the best plan, remember that understanding your usage is the best way to find the best price.

You will want to gather your past usage for the past 12 months to determine the best plan with the lowest rate for your household.

Did You Know?

HISTORICAL

Hubbard was founded in 1881 when the Missouri, Kansas and Texas Railroad built through the area, and the town was named after Richard B. Hubbard, the 16th Governor of Texas who served from 1876 to 1879. The railroad brought prosperity to the small farming community, making it a vital shipping point for cotton and grain from the surrounding Hill County agricultural region.

RECENT

In 2020, Hubbard completed a major downtown revitalization project that restored several historic buildings along Main Street and added new sidewalks, period lighting, and landscaping. The project was funded through a combination of state grants and local fundraising efforts, breathing new life into the small town's commercial district and attracting new businesses to the area.

FAMOUS PEOPLE

Hubbard was the childhood home of R.C. Slocum, who became one of the most successful football coaches in Texas A&M University history, leading the Aggies to four Southwest Conference championships and 12 bowl victories during his tenure from 1989 to 2002. Slocum often credited his small-town Hubbard upbringing for instilling the values of hard work and community that defined his coaching philosophy.

DID YOU KNOW

Hubbard is home to one of the last remaining original Katy Railroad depots in Texas, built in 1902 and still standing in its original location on Main Street. The depot served as the town's lifeline to the outside world for decades, and local legend says that during the Great Depression, hobos would mark the depot with secret symbols indicating that Hubbard residents were generous with food and work opportunities.

CULTURAL

Every October, Hubbard hosts the annual Czech Heritage Festival, celebrating the town's significant Czech immigrant population that arrived in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The festival features traditional Czech foods like kolaches and sausages, polka dancing, and a parade, drawing visitors from across Central Texas to experience authentic Czech culture that has been preserved for over a century in this small Hill County community.
