Who delivers electricity in Crandall

Oncor owns and maintains the poles, wires, and meters in Crandall. Whichever plan you pick, Oncor still delivers the power and restores outages — switching providers never changes your wires. Every price on this page already includes Oncor delivery charges. If a rate elsewhere looks lower, check whether delivery is in it yet.

Yes — most Crandall addresses have smart meters, so orders placed by 5 p.m. on a business day can start the same day. Pick your start date at checkout, up to 90 days ahead.

Compare effective rates at YOUR usage, not advertised rates — fees and bill credits bend each plan differently. Check the contract length and cancellation fee, then confirm delivery charges are included. The tables on this page do all three, and checkout takes about ten minutes.

Yes. Texas law gives you a 14-day window before your contract end date to switch with NO early-termination fee. Find your end date on your bill, then shop it today — the expensive move is drifting onto a holdover rate.

It changes with your usage. The lowest effective rate we price in Crandall today is 6.8¢ per kWh at 1,000 kWh — but a plan that wins at 1,000 kWh can lose at 2,000. Enter your ZIP and usage to see which company is cheapest for your home.

How to find the best energy plan in Crandall

#1 rule: Know your usage!

Determining how much energy you will consume in a month is the best way to shop for energy in Crandall. Why should you care?

The rate you see power companies advertising is for an exact monthly usage (typically 2000 kWh).

Every plan uses a different equation for how your monthly statement is computed, and your monthly bill will be determined by how much energy you consume each month.

Unless you match the advertised usage each month, you will end up paying a “price per kWh” different than what you observed when you enrolled.

Thankfully, there’s a better way to pick your electricity rate.

Calculating your expected monthly bill based on estimated monthly usage, then comparing options by total monthly bill, is the best way to shop for the lowest rate for your home.

Better yet, if you have 12 months of usage history for your home, you can compare plans by total annual cost. This annualized method considers the changes in usage between the summer and winter months and is the ideal way to discover the right energy plan for your home.

Compare Power does all this math for you instantly. What could take you hours on a spreadsheet is now done in a few moments.

We put the power in your hands, taking what would amount to hours of research, spreadsheets, and calculations across hundreds of plans and navigating you step-by-step to the energy plan that’s best for your household’s usage.

We clarify the fine print, disclosing the various charges, so you’ll know exactly where your money is going and what to expect on your monthly bill.

We then assist you in signing up with your chosen power company without leaving our website.

The takeaway here is you must determine your expected or historical usage before selecting the best electricity plan for your home.

If you don’t know your usage, estimate

If you recently purchased a home or business, or you cannot obtain 12-months of usage history, you can always estimate the average amount of energy that you will use in any given month.

While not as optimal as having all the previous 12 months of usage, estimating your average usage is better than blindly choosing the first plan you see advertised by an electricity company at a specific usage that isn’t what you’ll consume.

Use Compare Power to find the best electricity plan for your**specific usage.

Moving to Crandall: Setting up electricity

If this is your first time setting up electricity service in Crandall, to get the best rate, you need to get the previous 12 months of energy usage for your new home.

Ask the previous homeowner to provide you with their past 12 months of usage.

This information is readily found in recent billing statements.

It may take some effort to acquire usage for the past 12 months, but the time (and savings) will be well worth it.

Once you have historical usage, Compare Power will do the math instantly to help you find the best plan for your home’s usage pattern.

Note: If you can’t obtain a usage history, you can estimate your monthly usage instead. Utilize our “Help Me Choose” tool when you enter your zip code below, and we’ll help you evaluate your home’s usage.

Sign-up for a plan instantly through Compare Power. We will remind you when it’s time to come back to switch and save at the end of the plan term you decide on.

Switching electricity companies in Crandall

Switching is good. Market conditions are constantly in flux, so it is vital to shop for a lower rate each year when your contract expires.

Your existing energy provider will typically raise your energy rate once your contract expires. If you fail to take action, you’ll be left on a month-to-month rate that is significantly higher than the plan you signed up for.

Electric plug on hundred dollar bills with utility bill showing balance and electric charges

Before renewing your contract, shop the rates of competing electricity companies.

Switching can save you hundreds or thousands of dollars yearly on your electricity bill.

Switching is easy:

When you make the switch, your new energy company will handle everything for you, including canceling service with your previous provider.

Your lights stay on when you switch. Electricity in Crandall is all delivered by the Oncor Transmission and Distribution Utility.

The wires and poles that deliver electricity to your home do not change when you switch energy companies. Therefore the reliability of your service is not affected.

You can pick any date up to 14 days before your current contract’s end date without an “early cancellation” fee. Texas law protects you here.

If you’re still under contract, check how many months remain on your contract. You can set a future start date with most companies up to 6o days in advance.

And even if you’re well inside your contract, savings achieved on your monthly bill by switching providers may outweigh the fee of breaking your existing contract.

If you are unsure, email us your latest energy bill, and one of our team members will respond to you promptly with your best options.

If you’re ready to switch and would like to know how to find the best plan remember that understanding your usage is the best way to find the truly cheapest rate.

You will want to gather your past usage for the past 12 months to determine the best plan with the lowest rate for your household.

Did You Know?

HISTORICAL

Crandall was founded in 1882 when the Texas and Pacific Railway established a depot at this location, naming it after Cornelius Crandall, a railroad official. The town grew rapidly as a shipping point for cotton and other agricultural products from the fertile Blackland Prairie, becoming a vital link between rural Kaufman County farms and markets in Dallas.

RECENT

In 2020, Crandall completed construction of a new $45 million high school campus as part of a major bond program to accommodate rapid population growth. The city has experienced a 40% population increase since 2010 as families seek affordable housing within commuting distance of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.

FAMOUS PEOPLE

Country music star LeAnn Rimes spent part of her childhood in nearby areas and performed at several Crandall community events during her early career in the 1990s. The town also produced several notable high school football players who went on to play for major Texas universities, including former University of Texas linebacker who helped win a Big 12 championship.

DID YOU KNOW

Crandall sits on one of the largest underground salt domes in East Texas, which was discovered in the 1930s during oil exploration. The Morton Salt Company operated a major salt mining facility here for decades, and the underground caverns created by salt extraction are now used for storing petroleum products and other materials in a climate-controlled environment 1,000 feet below ground.

CULTURAL

Every October, Crandall hosts the annual Pumpkin Festival that draws over 10,000 visitors to this small town, featuring a pumpkin weigh-off competition that has produced state record-breaking pumpkins exceeding 1,200 pounds. The festival began in 1995 as a small community gathering and has grown into one of East Texas's most popular fall celebrations, complete with live music, local crafts, and a parade down historic Main Street.
