Who delivers electricity in Coolidge

Oncor owns and maintains the poles, wires, and meters in Coolidge. Whichever plan you pick, Oncor still delivers the power and restores outages — switching providers never changes your wires. Every price on this page already includes Oncor delivery charges. If a rate elsewhere looks lower, check whether delivery is in it yet.

Quick answers

Coolidge electricity questions, answered

As of August 2026, plans we offer in the Oncor territory average 15.3¢ per kWh at 1,000 kWh of monthly use, and today’s lowest effective rate is 6.8¢. Advertised rates move with your usage, so price plans at your own numbers.

Oncor is Coolidge’s transmission and delivery utility. It owns the wires and meters and restores outages. You choose your retail electricity provider; Oncor delivers no matter who you pick.

Yes — most Coolidge addresses have smart meters, so orders placed by 5 p.m. on a business day can start the same day. Pick your start date at checkout, up to 90 days ahead.

Compare effective rates at YOUR usage, not advertised rates — fees and bill credits bend each plan differently. Check the contract length and cancellation fee, then confirm delivery charges are included. The tables on this page do all three, and checkout takes about ten minutes.

Yes. Texas law gives you a 14-day window before your contract end date to switch with NO early-termination fee. Find your end date on your bill, then shop it today — the expensive move is drifting onto a holdover rate.

It changes with your usage. The lowest effective rate we price in Coolidge today is 6.8¢ per kWh at 1,000 kWh — but a plan that wins at 1,000 kWh can lose at 2,000. Enter your ZIP and usage to see which company is cheapest for your home.

We currently price 122 plans in Coolidge, every one from a PUCT-licensed provider we work with, priced with delivery included.

You can choose your home’s energy provider in Coolidge.

Compare Power is a free consumer service started in 2009 to assist residents of Coolidge shopping for their lowest-rate electricity plan.

These official rates are the same rates you’ll find contacting the energy providers or visiting them online.

Plans from many different energy companies are outlined in a standardized format that makes comparing your options simple and fast.

This assures Texas energy customers avoid hidden markups and advertising gimmicks by comparing plans “apples-to-apples” without spending hours and hours calling different energy companies or navigating hundreds of different websites.

Electricity in Coolidge has been deregulated. As a resident, you can choose when picking a retail electricity provider (your electricity company), which gives you control and power over your energy bill.

Deregulating electricity in Texas de-monopolized the electricity market for most of Texas, the city of Coolidge included, which introduced lots of competition.

As a result, many excellent retail electricity providers compete for your business in Coolidge by offering low prices, making it a great time to compare, switch, and save money on your electricity bill.

As many as 65+ energy companies compete for your business in Coolidge, and hundreds of plans exist to sort through.

How to find the best energy plan in Coolidge

#1 rule: Determine what your usage is!

Discovering how much energy you will consume month-to-month is the ideal way to find a deal on electricity in Coolidge. Why is this so vital?

The rate you see energy providers advertising is for an exact monthly usage (usually 2000 kWh).

Every plan has a different equation for how your monthly statement is computed, and your monthly bill will vary depending on how much energy you consume each month.

Unless you match the exact advertised usage each month, you will end up paying a “price per kWh” different than what you observed when you ordered.

Fortunately, there’s a better way to select your power plan.

Calculating your expected monthly bill based on expected monthly usage, then comparing plans by the total monthly bill is the best way to shop for the lowest rate for your home.

Better yet, if you have 12 months of usage history for your household, you can compare plans by total annual cost. This annualized method considers the changes in usage between the summer and winter months and is the ideal way to determine your home’s ideal electricity plan.

Compare Power does all this math for you instantly. What could take you hours inside a spreadsheet is now done in seconds.

We put you in the driver’s seat, taking what would amount to hours of research, spreadsheets, and calculations across hundreds of plans and guide you step-by-step to the electricity rate plan that’s best for your household’s usage.

We clarify the fine print, disclosing all fees, so you’ll know exactly where your money is going and what to expect on your bill.

We then assist you in ordering your plan with your chosen power company without ever having to leave our website.

The bottom line is you must know your expected or historical usage before choosing the right energy plan for your home.

If you don’t know your usage, estimate

If you recently purchased a home or business, or you cannot obtain 12 months of usage history, you can always estimate the average amount of energy that you will use in any given month.

While not as optimal as having all the previous 12 months of usage, estimating your average usage is better than blindly choosing the first plan you see advertised by an energy company at a specific usage that isn’t what you’ll consume.

Use Compare Power to find the best energy plan for your**specific usage.

Moving to Coolidge: Setting up electricity

If this is your first time setting up electricity service in Coolidge, to get the best rate, you need to get the previous 12 months of energy usage for your new home.

Ask the previous homeowner to provide you with their past 12 months of usage.

This information is readily found in recent billing statements.

It may take some effort to acquire usage for the past 12 months, but the time (and savings) will be well worth it.

Once you have historical usage, Compare Power will do the math instantly to help you find the best plan for your home’s usage pattern.

Note: If you cannot obtain historical usage information, a second option would be to estimate your future usage using our “Help Me Choose” tool. By simply entering your zip code, the tool can assess your home’s projected electricity consumption.

Sign-up for a plan in minutes through Compare Power. We will remind you when it’s time to come back to switch and save at the end of the plan term you decide on.

Switching electricity companies in Coolidge

Switching is good. Market conditions are constantly in flux, so it is essential to shop for a lower price each year when your contract is about to expire.

Your existing energy provider will typically raise your electricity rate once your contract expires. If you fail to take action, you’ll be left on a month-to-month rate significantly more than the plan you signed up for.

Electric plug on hundred dollar bills with utility bill showing balance and electric charges

Before renewing your contract, shop the rates of competing energy companies.

Switching can save you hundreds or thousands of dollars yearly on your energy bill.

Switching is easy:

When you make the switch, your new electricity provider will handle everything for you, including terminating service with your previous provider.

Your lights stay on when you switch. Electricity in Coolidge is all delivered by the Oncor Transmission and Distribution Utility.

The wires and poles that deliver power to your home do not change when you switch energy companies. Therefore the reliability of your service is not affected.

You can choose any date up to 14 days before your current contract’s end date without an “early termination” penalty. Texas law protects you here.

If you’re still under contract, find out how many months remain on your contract. You can set a future start date with most providers up to 6o days in advance.

And even if you’re well inside your contract, savings achieved on your monthly bill by switching companies may outweigh the fee to break your existing contract.

If you’re ready to switch and want to know how to find the best plan, remember that knowing your usage is the best way to find the best price.

You will want to gather your past usage for the past 12 months to determine the best plan with the lowest rate for your household.

Did You Know?

HISTORICAL

Coolidge was founded in 1871 and named after Thomas Jefferson Coolidge, a Boston financier who invested heavily in Texas railroads during Reconstruction. The town grew rapidly when the Houston and Texas Central Railway established a depot here, making it a crucial shipping point for cotton and cattle from the surrounding Blackland Prairie region.

RECENT

In 2020, Coolidge completed a major downtown revitalization project that restored several historic buildings along Main Street, including the conversion of the old cotton warehouse into a community center. The project was funded through a combination of state historic preservation grants and local fundraising efforts that brought the small community together.

FAMOUS PEOPLE

Country music singer and songwriter Roger Miller, famous for hits like 'King of the Road' and 'Dang Me,' spent part of his childhood in Coolidge during the 1930s. Miller later won 11 Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, often crediting his small-town Texas upbringing for inspiring his storytelling style.

DID YOU KNOW

Coolidge is home to one of the last remaining original Sinclair dinosaur statues from the 1960s gas station promotion, standing guard at the town's vintage service station on Highway 14. The fiberglass Dimetrodon has become an unexpected roadside attraction, with travelers stopping specifically to photograph the 12-foot-long green dinosaur that has survived decades of Texas weather.

CULTURAL

Every October, Coolidge hosts the annual Pumpkin Festival, where the entire population of under 1,000 residents transforms Main Street into a harvest celebration featuring the world's largest pumpkin pie contest. Local families compete using secret recipes passed down through generations, with some pies weighing over 50 pounds and requiring special ovens built specifically for the competition.
