Compare effective rates at YOUR usage, not advertised rates — fees and bill credits bend each plan differently. Check the contract length and cancellation fee, then confirm delivery charges are included. The tables on this page do all three, and checkout takes about ten minutes.

Yes. Texas law gives you a 14-day window before your contract end date to switch with NO early-termination fee. Find your end date on your bill, then shop it today — the expensive move is drifting onto a holdover rate.

How to find the best energy plan in Cedar Hill

#1 rule: Determine what your usage is!

Knowing how much electricity you will use month-to-month is the best way to shop for energy in Cedar Hill. Why should you care?

The “price per kWh” you see electricity providers advertising is for an exact monthly usage (typically 1000 kWh).

Every plan uses a different equation for how your monthly statement is calculated, and your monthly bill will vary depending on how much electricity you use each month.

Unless you use the advertised amount each month, you will end up paying a “price per kWh” different than the one you saw advertised when you signed up.

Fortunately, there’s a better way to select your power company.

Calculating your expected monthly bill based on expected monthly usage, then comparing options by total monthly cost, is the best way to shop for the best rate for your home.

Better still, if you have 12 months of usage history for your home, you can compare plans by total annual cost. This annualized method considers the changes in usage between the summer and winter and is the ideal way to find the perfect energy plan for your home.

Compare Power does all this math for you instantly. What could take you hours on a spreadsheet is now done in a few moments.

We put the power in your hands, taking what would amount to hours of research, spreadsheets, and computations across hundreds of offers and guide you step-by-step to the energy plan that’s best for your home’s usage.

We clarify the fine print, disclosing all fees, so you’ll know exactly where your money is going and what to anticipate on your bill.

We then assist you in signing up with your chosen power company without leaving our service.

The bottom line is you must know your expected or historical usage before selecting the best energy plan for your home.

If you don’t know your usage, estimate

If you cannot acquire 12 months of historical usage or own a brand new home, the next best thing is to estimate how much energy you will use in an average month.

Although knowing the previous 12 months of usage is optimum, it is far better to estimate the average energy consumption than to select the first electricity provider that you see advertised. After all, you have no idea how much energy you will use at that point.

Use Compare Power to shop for the best energy plan for your**specific usage.

Moving to Cedar Hill: Setting up electricity

If this is your first time setting up electricity service in Cedar Hill, to get the best rate, you need to get the previous 12 months of energy usage for your new home.

Ask the previous homeowner to provide you with their past 12 months of usage.

This information is readily found in recent billing statements.

Acquiring usage for the past 12 months may take effort, but the time (and savings) will be well worth it.

Once you have historical usage, Compare Power will do the math instantly to help you find the best plan for your home’s usage pattern.

Note: You can estimate your monthly usage if you can’t obtain a usage history. Utilize our “Help Me Choose” tool when you enter your zip code below, and we’ll help you evaluate your home’s usage.

By signing up for a plan through Compare Power, you will receive automated reminders when it’s time to renew your existing plan or possibly switch plans.

Switching electricity companies in Cedar Hill

Switching is good. Market conditions are constantly changing, so shopping for a lower rate yearly when your contract expires is essential.

Your existing energy provider will typically raise your energy rate once your term expires. If you do not act, you’ll be left on a month-to-month rate significantly more than the plan you signed up for.

Before renewing your contract, shop the rates of competing energy companies.

Switching can save you hundreds or thousands of dollars yearly on your electricity bill.

Switching is easy:

  • You don’t have to contact your current provider to cancel (no “break-up call”)
  • No one comes to your home
  • There is no disruption in your power supply
  • It takes just minutes

When you switch, your new electricity provider will handle everything, including terminating service with your previous provider.

There is no loss of power when you switch. Electricity in Cedar Hill is all delivered by the Oncor Transmission and Distribution Utility.

The wires and poles that deliver power to your home do not change when you switch electricity companies. Therefore the reliability of your service is not affected.

You can choose any date up to 14 days before your contract ends without an “early termination” penalty. That’s Texas Law.

If you’re still under contract, check how many months remain on your contract. You can set a future start date with most companies up to 6o days in advance.

The amount saved each month by switching to a different electricity company may outweigh the one-time fee to get out of your contract early.

For help with this, you can email us your latest energy bill, and one of our professional team members will contact you shortly to discuss your best options.

If you’re ready to switch and would like to know how to find the best plan remember that knowing your usage is the best way to find the best price.

You will want to gather your past usage for the past 12 months to determine the best plan with the lowest rate for your household.

Did You Know?

HISTORICAL

Cedar Hill was founded in 1846 by a group of settlers led by Reverend Abner Kincaid, who established the first church and school in the area. The town got its name from the abundance of cedar trees that covered the rolling hills, and it served as a vital stop along the Chisholm Trail where cattle drivers would rest and resupply before continuing north to Kansas railheads.

RECENT

In 2020, Cedar Hill completed construction of the $65 million Cedar Hill Government Center, a state-of-the-art facility that consolidated all city services under one roof and features sustainable design elements including solar panels and rainwater harvesting systems. The project transformed the downtown area and has attracted new businesses and residential development to the city center.

FAMOUS PEOPLE

Cedar Hill is the hometown of NFL linebacker DeMarcus Ware, who played 12 seasons in the NFL with the Dallas Cowboys and Denver Broncos, recording 138.5 career sacks. Ware, who graduated from Cedar Hill High School in 2001, led the Longhorns to their first-ever state championship appearance and later donated $1 million to build a new athletic facility at his alma mater.

DID YOU KNOW

Cedar Hill is home to the largest man-made hill in North Texas, created entirely from construction debris and dirt from the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport construction project in the 1970s. This 'hill' rises 300 feet above the surrounding prairie and now serves as the foundation for Cedar Hill State Park, offering some of the best panoramic views of the Dallas skyline from 20 miles away.

CULTURAL

Cedar Hill hosts the annual 'Country Day on the Hill' festival each October, which began in 1973 and has grown into one of North Texas's largest fall festivals, attracting over 30,000 visitors. The festival features a unique tradition called the 'Cedar Hill Scarecrow Trail' where local businesses and residents create elaborate scarecrow displays throughout the downtown area, turning the entire city into an outdoor art gallery for the month of October.
