How to find the best energy plan in Bruceville-Eddy

#1 rule: Know your usage!

Knowing how much electricity you will consume monthly is the best way to find a deal on energy in Bruceville-Eddy. Why is this important?

The rate you see power companies advertising is for an exact monthly usage (typically 1000 kWh).

Every plan uses a different equation for how your monthly statement is determined, and your monthly bill will change according to how much electricity you use each month.

Unless you use the advertised amount each month, you will end up paying a “price per kWh” different than the one you saw advertised when you ordered.

Thankfully, there’s a better way to choose your power company.

Calculating your expected monthly bill based on estimated monthly usage, then comparing rates by total monthly cost is the best way to shop for the lowest rate for you.

Better still, if you have a year of usage history for your home, you can compare plans by total annual cost. This annualized method considers the changes in usage between the summer and winter months and is the ideal way to determine the energy rate plan for your home.

Compare Power does all the complicated math for you instantly. What could take you hours on a spreadsheet is now solved in moments.

We put the power in your hands, taking what would amount to hours of research, spreadsheets, and computations across hundreds of plans and guiding you to the best electricity plan for your household’s usage.

We clarify the details, disclosing all fees, so you’ll know precisely where your money is going and what to anticipate on your bill.

We then assist you in signing up with your chosen electricity provider without ever having to leave our service.

The bottom line is you must know your expected or historical usage before picking the right electricity plan for your home.

If you don’t know your usage, estimate

Suppose you recently purchased a home or business or cannot obtain 12 months of usage history. In that case, you can always estimate the average energy you will use in any given month.

Although knowing the previous 12 months of usage is optimum, it is far better to estimate the average energy consumption than to select the first electricity provider that you see advertised. After all, you have no idea how much energy you will use at that point.

Use Compare Power to shop for the best electricity plan for your**specific usage.

Moving to Bruceville-Eddy: Setting up electricity

If this is your first time setting up electricity service in Bruceville-Eddy, to get the best rate, you need to get the previous 12 months of energy usage for your new home.

Ask the previous homeowner to provide you with their past 12 months of usage.

This information is readily found in recent billing statements.

Acquiring usage for the past 12 months may take effort, but the time (and savings) will be well worth it.

Once you have historical usage, Compare Power will do the math instantly to help you find the best plan for your home’s usage pattern.

Note: If you cannot obtain historical usage information, a second option would be to estimate your future usage using our “Help Me Choose” tool. By simply entering your zip code, the tool can assess your home’s projected electricity consumption.

By signing up for a plan through Compare Power, you will receive automated reminders when renewing your existing plan or possibly switching plans.

Switching electricity companies in Bruceville-Eddy

Switching is good. Market conditions are constantly changing, so it is essential to shop for a lower rate yearly when your contract expires.

Your existing energy provider will typically raise your electricity rate once your term expires. If you fail to take action, you’ll be left on a month-to-month rate significantly higher than the plan you signed up for.

Electric plug on hundred dollar bills with utility bill showing balance and electric charges

Before renewing your contract, shop the rates of competing electricity companies.

Switching can save you hundreds or thousands of dollars yearly on your energy bill.

Switching is easy:

When you make the switch, your new electricity provider will take care of everything for you, including terminating service with your previous company.

Your lights stay on when you switch. Electricity in Bruceville-Eddy is all delivered by the Oncor Transmission and Distribution Utility.

The wires and poles that deliver power to your home do not change when you switch energy companies. Therefore the reliability of your service is not affected.

You can choose any date within 14 days of your contract expiration date without an “early termination” penalty. That’s Texas Law.

If you’re still under contract, check how many months remain on your contract. You can set a future start date with most providers up to 6o days in advance.

The amount saved each month by switching to a different electricity company may outweigh the one-time fee to get out of your contract early.

If you are unsure, email us your latest energy bill, and one of our team members will get back to you promptly with your best options.

If you’re ready to switch and want to know how to find the best plan, remember that knowing your usage is the best way to find the cheapest price.

You will want to find your historical usage for the past 12 months to determine your household’s best plan with the lowest rate.

Did You Know?

HISTORICAL

Bruceville-Eddy was formed in 1881 when two separate railroad towns, Bruceville and Eddy, were established just one mile apart along the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad. The towns remained separate entities for over a century until they officially merged in 1982, creating one of Texas's most uniquely named cities that literally hyphenates its dual heritage.

RECENT

In 2020, Bruceville-Eddy completed a major downtown revitalization project that restored several historic buildings from the 1880s railroad era. The project included the renovation of the old depot building into a community center and the creation of a heritage trail that connects historical sites from both original towns.

FAMOUS PEOPLE

Country music songwriter Red Lane, who penned hits for Merle Haggard including 'The Fugitive' and 'If We Make It Through December,' was born in Bruceville-Eddy in 1939. Lane's songs earned multiple Grammy nominations and helped define the Bakersfield sound of country music in the 1960s and 70s.

DID YOU KNOW

Bruceville-Eddy is home to one of Texas's most unusual municipal boundaries, where the original city limits literally zigzag down the middle of Main Street to accommodate the historical property lines from when the two towns merged. Some businesses technically operate in both the former Bruceville and Eddy sides of town, requiring special permits for certain municipal services.

CULTURAL

The city celebrates its unique dual heritage every October with the 'Two Towns Festival,' where residents dress in period costumes representing either the Bruceville or Eddy side of town. The festival features a mock 'border crossing' ceremony between the two historical districts and includes competitions between the 'Bruceville Bears' and 'Eddy Eagles' in everything from pie baking to horseshoe throwing.
