Who delivers electricity in Benbrook

Oncor owns and maintains the poles, wires, and meters in Benbrook. Whichever plan you pick, Oncor still delivers the power and restores outages — switching providers never changes your wires. Every price on this page already includes Oncor delivery charges. If a rate elsewhere looks lower, check whether delivery is in it yet.

Quick answers

Benbrook electricity questions, answered

As of August 2026, plans we offer in the Oncor territory average 15.3¢ per kWh at 1,000 kWh of monthly use, and today’s lowest effective rate is 6.8¢. Advertised rates move with your usage, so price plans at your own numbers.

Oncor is Benbrook’s transmission and delivery utility. It owns the wires and meters and restores outages. You choose your retail electricity provider; Oncor delivers no matter who you pick.

Yes — most Benbrook addresses have smart meters, so orders placed by 5 p.m. on a business day can start the same day. Pick your start date at checkout, up to 90 days ahead.

Compare effective rates at YOUR usage, not advertised rates — fees and bill credits bend each plan differently. Check the contract length and cancellation fee, then confirm delivery charges are included. The tables on this page do all three, and checkout takes about ten minutes.

Yes. Texas law gives you a 14-day window before your contract end date to switch with NO early-termination fee. Find your end date on your bill, then shop it today — the expensive move is drifting onto a holdover rate.

It changes with your usage. The lowest effective rate we price in Benbrook today is 6.8¢ per kWh at 1,000 kWh — but a plan that wins at 1,000 kWh can lose at 2,000. Enter your ZIP and usage to see which company is cheapest for your home.

We currently price 122 plans in Benbrook, every one from a PUCT-licensed provider we work with, priced with delivery included.

How to find the best energy plan in Benbrook

#1 rule: Know your usage!

Determining the amount of electricity you will consume monthly is the ideal way to find a deal on power in Benbrook. Why should you care?

The rate you see power providers advertising is for an exact monthly usage (typically 2000 kWh).

Every plan uses a different equation for how your monthly bill is determined, and your monthly bill will change according to how much energy you consume in a month.

Unless you use the advertised amount each month, you will end up paying a “price per kWh” different than what you saw when you signed up.

Fortunately, there’s a better way to choose your power company.

Calculating your expected monthly bill based on anticipated monthly usage, then comparing options by total monthly bill, is the best way to shop for the lowest rate for your home.

Better still, if you have 12 months of usage history for your household, you can compare plans by total annual cost. This annualized method considers the changes in usage between the summer and winter months and is the best way to find the perfect electricity plan for your home.

Compare Power does all this math for you instantly. What could take you hours on a spreadsheet is now done in seconds.

We put you in the driver’s seat, taking what would amount to hours of investigation, spreadsheets, and calculations across hundreds of plans, and guide you step-by-step to the energy plan that’s best for your home’s usage.

We clarify the details, disclosing the various charges, so you’ll know exactly where your money is going and what to anticipate on your monthly bill.

We then assist you in enrolling with your chosen power provider without ever having to leave our website.

The takeaway here is you must know your expected or historical usage before choosing the right energy plan for your home.

If you don’t know your usage, estimate

If you cannot acquire 12 months of historical usage, or you’re the owner of a brand new home, the next best thing is to estimate how much energy you will use in an average month.

Although knowing the previous 12 months of usage is optimum, it is far better to estimate the average energy consumption than to select the first electricity provider that you see advertised. After all, you have no idea how much energy you will use at that point.

Use Compare Power to shop for the best energy plan for your**specific usage.

Moving to Benbrook: Setting up electricity

If this is your first time setting up electricity service in Benbrook, to get the best rate, you need to get the previous 12 months of energy usage for your new home.

Ask the previous homeowner to provide you with their past 12 months of usage.

This information is readily found in recent billing statements.

It may take some effort to acquire usage for the past 12 months, but the time (and savings) will be well worth it.

Once you have historical usage, Compare Power will do the math instantly to help you find the best plan for your home’s usage pattern.

Note: If you can’t obtain a usage history, you can estimate your monthly usage instead. Utilize our “Help Me Choose” tool when you enter your zip code below, and we’ll help you evaluate your home’s usage.

Sign-up for a plan in minutes through Compare Power. We will remind you when it’s time to come back to switch and save at the end of the plan length you decide on.

Switching electricity companies in Benbrook

Switching is good. Market conditions are constantly in flux, so it is vital to shop for a lower rate each year when your contract expires.

Your existing electricity company will typically raise your energy rate once your term expires. If you do not take action, you’ll be left on a month-to-month rate that is significantly higher than the plan you signed up for.

Electric plug on hundred dollar bills with utility bill showing balance and electric charges

Before renewing your contract, shop the rates of competing electricity providers.

Switching can save you hundreds or thousands of dollars yearly on your energy bill.

Switching is easy:

When you make the switch, your new electricity company will take care of everything for you, including terminating service with your previous provider.

There is no loss of power when you switch. Electricity in Benbrook is all delivered by the Oncor Transmission and Distribution Utility.

The wires and poles that deliver power to your home do not change when you switch electricity companies. Therefore the reliability of your service is not affected.

You can choose any date up to 14 days before your current contract’s end date without an “early termination” fee. Texas law protects you here.

If you’re still under contract, check how many months remain on your contract. You can set a future start date with most providers up to 6o days in advance.

The amount saved each month by switching to a different electricity company may outweigh the one-time fee to get out of your contract early.

If you are unsure, email us your latest energy bill, and one of our team members will respond to you promptly with your best options.

If you’re ready to switch and want to know how to find the best plan remember that understanding your usage is the best way to find the truly lowest price.

You will want to find your historical usage for the past 12 months to determine the best plan with the lowest rate for your household.

Did You Know?

HISTORICAL

Benbrook was founded in 1947 and named after James Benbrook, a prominent Fort Worth businessman who owned extensive land in the area during the early 1900s. The city was incorporated when residents sought to avoid annexation by Fort Worth, creating one of the youngest municipalities in Tarrant County with a fierce independent spirit that continues today.

RECENT

In 2020, Benbrook completed a major downtown revitalization project centered around the historic Benbrook Circle, transforming the area into a walkable mixed-use district. The $15 million project included new sidewalks, landscaping, and infrastructure improvements that have attracted several new restaurants and boutique shops to the area.

FAMOUS PEOPLE

Country music star Pat Green, known as the 'King of Texas Country,' spent part of his childhood in Benbrook before moving to other parts of Texas. His connection to the area influenced several of his songs about small-town Texas life, and he has performed at local venues including benefit concerts for Benbrook schools.

DID YOU KNOW

Benbrook Lake, which borders the city, was created in 1952 by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and is one of the few lakes in Texas where you can still find remnants of the original Clear Fork of the Trinity River channel visible during low water periods. The lake also contains a submerged ghost town called Benbrook Village that was relocated before the dam was completed.

CULTURAL

Benbrook is famous for its annual 'Benbrook Fest' celebration that features one of Texas's largest amateur chili cook-offs, drawing over 200 teams from across the Southwest. The festival, held every October since 1978, also includes a unique 'Anything That Floats' race on Benbrook Lake where participants build creative watercraft from unconventional materials like shopping carts and lawn furniture.
