Who delivers electricity in Bayside

AEP Central owns and maintains the poles, wires, and meters in Bayside. Yes — most Bayside addresses have smart meters, so orders placed by 5 p.m. on a business day can start the same day. Pick your start date at checkout, up to 90 days ahead.

Compare effective rates at YOUR usage, not advertised rates — fees and bill credits bend each plan differently. Check the contract length and cancellation fee, then confirm delivery charges are included. The tables on this page do all three, and checkout takes about ten minutes.

Yes. Texas law gives you a 14-day window before your contract end date to switch with NO early-termination fee. Find your end date on your bill, then shop it today — the expensive move is drifting onto a holdover rate.

It changes with your usage. The lowest effective rate we price in Bayside today is 7.0¢ per kWh at 1,000 kWh — but a plan that wins at 1,000 kWh can lose at 2,000. Enter your ZIP and usage to see which company is cheapest for your home.

How to find the best energy plan in Bayside

#1 rule: Know your usage!

Determining the amount of electricity you will consume monthly is the ideal way to find a deal on energy in Bayside. Why does this matter?

The rate you see power companies advertising is for an exact monthly usage (usually 1000 kWh).

Every plan uses a different calculation for how your monthly bill is calculated, and your monthly bill will vary depending on how much electricity you consume in the month.

Unless you match the exact advertised usage each month, you will end up paying an effective “price per kWh” different than the one you saw advertised when you signed up.

Fortunately, there’s a better way to pick your power rate.

Calculating your total monthly bill based on anticipate monthly usage, then comparing options by total monthly bill, is the best way to shop for the best rate for your household.

Better still, if you have an entire year of usage history for your household, you can compare plans by total annual cost. This annualized method takes into account the changes in usage between the summer and winter months and is the absolute best way to determine the ideal electricity plan for your home.

Compare Power does all this math for you in an instant. What takes hours inside a spreadsheet is now done in a few seconds.

We put you in the driver’s seat, taking what would amount to hours of investigation, spreadsheets, and calculations across hundreds of offers, and navigate you step-by-step to the electricity plan that’s best for your home’s consumption.

We clarify the fine print, disclosing the various charges and fees, so you’ll know exactly where your money is going and what to anticipate on your bill.

We then help you in ordering your plan with your chosen power company without leaving our service.

The takeaway here is you should determine your expected or historical usage before choosing the right electricity plan for your home.

If you don’t know your usage, estimate

If you recently purchased a home or business, or you cannot obtain 12-months of usage history, you can always estimate the average amount of energy that you will use in any given month.

While not as optimal as having all the previous 12 months of usage, estimating your average usage is better than blindly picking the first plan you see advertised by an energy company at a specific usage that isn’t what you’ll consume.

Use Compare Power to shop for the best electricity plan for your**specific usage.

Moving to Bayside: Setting up electricity

If this is your first time setting up electricity service in Bayside, to get the best rate you need to get the previous 12 months of energy usage for your new home.

Ask the previous home-owner to provide you with their past 12 months of usage.

This information is readily found in recent billing statements.

It may take some effort to acquire usage for the past 12 months, but the time (and savings) will be well worth it.

Once you have historical usage, Compare Power will do the math instantly to help you find the best plan for your home’s usage pattern.

Note: If you are unable to obtain historical usage information, a second option would be to estimate your future usage via utilizing our “Help Me Choose” tool. By simply entering your zip code the tool will be able to assess your home’s projected electricity consumption.

Sign-up for a plan in minutes through Compare Power. We will remind you when its time to come back to switch and save at the end of the plan length you decide on.

Switching electricity companies in Bayside

Switching is good. Market conditions are always changing, so it is important to shop for a lower price every year when your contract is close to expiring.

Your existing energy provider will normally raise your electricity rate once your term expires. If you fail to take action, you’ll be left on a month-to-month rate that is significantly higher than the plan you signed up.

Electric plug on hundred dollar bills with utility bill showing balance and electric charges

Before renewing your contract make sure to shop the rates of competing electricity companies.

Switching can save you hundreds or thousands of dollars each year on your energy bill.

Switching is easy:

When you decide to switch, your new energy provider will handle everything for you including terminating service with your previous company.

Your lights stay on when you switch. Electricity in Bayside is all delivered by the Oncor Transmission and Distribution Utility.

The wires and poles that deliver electricity to your home do not change when you switch electricity providers. Therefore the reliability of your service is not affected.

You can pick any date up to 14 days early of your current contract’s end date without an “early termination” penalty. That’s Texas Law.

If you’re still under contract, check how many months remain on your contract. You can set a future start date with most providers up to 6o days in advance.

The amount saved each month by switching to a different electricity company may outweigh the one-time fee to get out of your contract early.

If you are unsure email us your latest energy bill and one of our team members will get back to you promptly with your best options.

If you’re ready to switch and would like to know how to find the best plan remember that knowing your usage is the best way to find the truly lowest price.

You will want to find your past usage for the past 12 months to determine the best plan with the lowest rate for your household.

Did You Know?

HISTORICAL

Bayside was established in the 1880s as a railroad town along the San Antonio and Aransas Pass Railway, serving as a crucial shipping point for cattle and cotton from the Coastal Bend region. The town's strategic location on Copano Bay made it an important port for transporting goods to larger markets, and its railroad depot became the economic heart of the community during the late 19th century.

RECENT

In 2017, Hurricane Harvey devastated Bayside with storm surge and flooding that damaged nearly 80% of the town's structures, forcing most residents to evacuate. The community has been slowly rebuilding over the past six years, with many residents choosing to elevate their homes and businesses above flood levels, fundamentally changing the town's architectural landscape.

OTHER

FAMOUS PEOPLE/EVENTS: Bayside was once home to the legendary King Ranch cowboy and rodeo champion Beto Gonzales, who won multiple championships in the 1940s and 1950s. Gonzales helped popularize the Mexican vaquero traditions that became integral to modern American rodeo, and his techniques are still taught at ranches throughout South Texas today.

DID YOU KNOW

Bayside sits on what was once the bottom of an ancient sea, and the area is famous among fossil hunters for its abundance of 30-million-year-old shark teeth and marine fossils that regularly wash up on nearby beaches. Local residents often find massive megalodon teeth, some measuring over 5 inches long, just by walking along the shoreline after storms.

CULTURAL

Despite having fewer than 400 residents, Bayside maintains one of Texas's most authentic working fishing villages, where multi-generational families still make their living harvesting blue crabs, oysters, and redfish from Copano Bay using techniques passed down for over a century. The town's annual Crab Festival, though small, draws seafood enthusiasts from across the Coastal Bend who come to experience traditional crab boils and learn about sustainable bay fishing practices.
