Who delivers electricity in Azle

Oncor owns and maintains the poles, wires, and meters in Azle. Whichever plan you pick, Oncor still delivers the power and restores outages — switching providers never changes your wires. Every price on this page already includes Oncor delivery charges. If a rate elsewhere looks lower, check whether delivery is in it yet.

Quick answers

Azle electricity questions, answered

As of August 2026, plans we offer in the Oncor territory average 15.3¢ per kWh at 1,000 kWh of monthly use, and today’s lowest effective rate is 6.8¢. Advertised rates move with your usage, so price plans at your own numbers.

Oncor is Azle’s transmission and delivery utility. It owns the wires and meters and restores outages. You choose your retail electricity provider; Oncor delivers no matter who you pick.

Yes — most Azle addresses have smart meters, so orders placed by 5 p.m. on a business day can start the same day. Pick your start date at checkout, up to 90 days ahead.

Compare effective rates at YOUR usage, not advertised rates — fees and bill credits bend each plan differently. Check the contract length and cancellation fee, then confirm delivery charges are included. The tables on this page do all three, and checkout takes about ten minutes.

Yes. Texas law gives you a 14-day window before your contract end date to switch with NO early-termination fee. Find your end date on your bill, then shop it today — the expensive move is drifting onto a holdover rate.

It changes with your usage. The lowest effective rate we price in Azle today is 6.8¢ per kWh at 1,000 kWh — but a plan that wins at 1,000 kWh can lose at 2,000. Enter your ZIP and usage to see which company is cheapest for your home.

We currently price 122 plans in Azle, every one from a PUCT-licensed provider we work with, priced with delivery included.

How to find the best energy plan in Azle

#1 rule: Usage is king!

Discovering how much electricity you will use in a month is the best way to find a deal on power in Azle. Why should you care?

The rate you see electricity companies advertising is for an exact monthly usage (usually 2000 kWh).

Every plan has a different equation for how your monthly bill is computed, and your monthly bill will be determined by how much electricity you use each month.

Unless you match the exact advertised usage each month, you will end up paying an effective “price per kWh” different than the one you saw advertised when you signed up.

Fortunately, there’s a better way to select your electricity provider.

Calculating your expected monthly bill based on anticipate monthly usage, then comparing options by total monthly bill, is the best way to shop for the lowest rate for your household.

Better yet, if you have 12 months of usage history for your household, you can compare plans by total annual cost. This annualized method takes into account the changes in usage between the summer and winter months and is the absolute best way to find the perfect electricity plan for your home.

Compare Power does all this math for you instantly. What takes hours on a spreadsheet is now done in a few seconds.

We put you in the driver’s seat, taking what would amount to hours of research, spreadsheets, and calculations across hundreds of plans, and navigate you step-by-step to the energy plan that’s best for your home’s usage.

We clarify the fine print, disclosing the various charges and fees, so you’ll know exactly where your money is going and what to anticipate on your bill.

We then help you in signing up with your selected power provider without leaving our website.

The takeaway here is you should understand your expected or historical usage before selecting the best electricity plan for your home.

If you don’t know your usage, estimate

If you are unable to acquire 12 months of historical usage, or you’re the owner of a brand new home, the next best thing is to estimate how much energy you will use in an average month.

Although knowing the previous 12 months of usage is optimum, it is far better to estimate the average energy consumption than to select the first electricity provider that you see advertised. After all, you have no idea how much energy you will use at that point.

Use Compare Power to shop for the best electricity plan for your**specific usage.

Moving to Azle: Setting up Electricity

If this is your first time setting up electricity service in Azle, to get the best rate you need to get the previous 12 months of energy usage for your new home.

Ask the previous home-owner to provide you with their past 12 months of usage.

This information is readily found in recent billing statements.

It may take some effort to acquire usage for the past 12 months, but the time (and savings) will be well worth it.

Once you have historical usage, Compare Power will do the math instantly to help you find the best plan for your home’s usage pattern.

Note: If you are unable to obtain historical usage information, a second option would be to estimate your future usage via utilizing our “Help Me Choose” tool. By simply entering your zip code the tool will be able to assess your home’s projected electricity consumption.

By signing up for a plan through Compare Power you will receive automated reminders when it’s time to renew your existing plan or possibly switch plans.

Switching electricity companies in Azle

Switching is good. Market conditions are always changing, so it is important to shop for a lower rate every year when your contract is about to expire.

Your existing energy company will normally raise your electricity rate once your contract expires. If you fail to take action, you’ll be left on a month-to-month rate that is significantly higher than the plan you signed up.

Electric plug on hundred dollar bills with utility bill showing balance and electric charges

Before renewing your contract make sure to check the rates of competing energy companies.

Switching can save you hundreds or thousands of dollars each year on your electricity bill.

Switching is easy:

When you make the switch, your new electricity company will take care of everything for you including canceling service with your previous provider.

There is no loss of power when you switch. Electricity in Azle is all delivered by the Oncor Transmission and Distribution Utility.

The wires and poles that deliver power to your home do not change when you switch energy providers. Therefore the reliability of your service is not affected.

You can choose any date up to 14 days early of your current contract’s end date without an “early cancellation” fee. Texas law protects you here.

If you’re still under contract, find out how many months remain on your contract. You can set a future start date with most companies up to 6o days in advance.

And even if you’re well inside your contract, savings achieved on your monthly bill by switching providers may outweigh the fee to break your existing contract.

For help with this, you can send us your latest energy bill via email, and one of our professional team members will contact you shortly to discuss your best options.

If you’re ready to switch and would like to know how to find the best plan remember that understanding your usage is the best way to find the truly cheapest price.

Keep in mind that when you get ready to switch, and you want to know the most efficient way to find the right plan at the best rate, it is essential that you first understand your usage. To accomplish that, you will need to collect the usage history for the past 12 months.

Did You Know?

HISTORICAL

Azle was founded in 1881 when the Texas and Pacific Railway came through the area, and the town was named after Dr. James Azle Stewart, a local physician who owned much of the land where the railroad depot was built. The community grew rapidly as a shipping point for local farmers and ranchers, becoming incorporated in 1912 with a population of just over 300 residents.

RECENT

In 2020, Azle completed a major downtown revitalization project that transformed Main Street with new sidewalks, period lighting, and landscaping to preserve its historic small-town charm. The city also opened a new $8 million recreation center in 2019, featuring a fitness facility, walking track, and community meeting spaces that serve residents throughout the Eagle Mountain Lake area.

FAMOUS PEOPLE

Country music star Jack Ingram was born and raised in Azle, graduating from Azle High School in 1988 before going on to achieve major success in Nashville. He's had multiple number-one hits on country radio and has won several Country Music Association awards, but still frequently returns to Azle for community events and maintains strong ties to his hometown.

DID YOU KNOW

Azle sits on the shores of Eagle Mountain Lake, which was the first major reservoir built in Texas specifically for municipal water supply when it was completed in 1932. The lake was created by damming the West Fork of the Trinity River and covers over 8,600 acres, making it one of the most popular recreational lakes in North Texas with over 2 million visitors annually.

CULTURAL

Azle is famous for its annual Azle Bean Day festival, which has been held every October since 1977 to celebrate the area's agricultural heritage, particularly the navy beans that were once a major crop in the region. The festival features a parade, live music, arts and crafts vendors, and the crowning of the Bean Queen, drawing thousands of visitors from across the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex to this small lakeside community.
