How to find the best energy plan in Alleyton

#1 rule: Determine what your usage is!

Knowing how much energy you will use each month is the ideal way to shop for power in Alleyton. Why does this matter?

The rate you see energy providers advertising is for an exact monthly usage (usually 1000 kWh).

Every plan has a different equation for how your monthly bill is computed, and your monthly bill will change according to how much energy you use in a month.

Unless you use exactly the advertised amount each month, you will end up paying an effective “price per kWh” different than what you saw when you signed up.

Fortunately, there’s a better way to shop for an energy company.

Calculating your expected monthly bill based on estimated monthly usage, then comparing plans by total monthly cost, is the best way to shop for the lowest rate for your home.

Better yet, if you have an entire year of usage history for your household, you can compare plans by total annual cost. This annualized method takes into account the changes in usage between the summer and winter months and is the ideal way to find the right energy rate plan for your home.

Compare Power does all this math for you instantly. What takes hours on a spreadsheet is now done in just moments.

We put the power in your hands, taking what would amount to hours of research, spreadsheets, and computations across hundreds of plans and guide you step-by-step to the electricity rate plan that’s best for your household’s usage.

We clarify the fine print, disclosing all fees and charges, so you’ll know exactly where your money is going and what to expect on your bill.

We then assist you in enrolling with your chosen power provider without leaving our website.

The bottom line is you must determine your expected or historical usage before choosing the right electricity plan for your home.

If you don’t know your usage, estimate

If you recently purchased a home or business, or you cannot obtain 12-months of usage history, you can always estimate the average amount of energy that you will use in any given month.

Although knowing the previous 12 months of usage is optimum, it is far better to estimate the average energy consumption than to select the first electricity provider that you see advertised. After all, you have no idea how much energy you will use at that point.

Use Compare Power to shop for the best electricity plan for your**specific usage.

Moving to Alleyton: Setting up electricity

If this is your first time setting up electricity service in Alleyton, to get the best rate you need to get the previous 12 months of energy usage for your new home.

Ask the previous home-owner to provide you with their past 12 months of usage.

This information is readily found in recent billing statements.

It may take some effort to acquire usage for the past 12 months, but the time (and savings) will be well worth it.

Once you have historical usage, Compare Power will do the math instantly to help you find the best plan for your home’s usage pattern.

Note: If you are unable to obtain historical usage information, a second option would be to estimate your future usage via utilizing our “Help Me Choose” tool. By simply entering your zip code the tool will be able to assess your home’s projected electricity consumption.

By signing up for a plan through Compare Power you will receive automated reminders when it’s time to renew your existing plan or possibly switch plans.

Switching electricity companies in Alleyton

Switching is good. Market conditions are always changing, so it is important to shop for a lower price each year when your contract is close to expiring.

Your existing electricity company will normally raise your electricity rate once your term expires. If you do not take action, you’ll be left on a month-to-month rate that is significantly more than the plan you signed up.

Electric plug on hundred dollar bills with utility bill showing balance and electric charges

Before renewing your contract make sure to shop the rates of competing electricity companies.

Switching can save you hundreds or thousands of dollars each year on your energy bill.

Switching is easy:

When you make the switch, your new electricity provider will take care of everything for you including canceling service with your previous provider.

There is no loss of power when you switch. Electricity in Alleyton is all delivered by the Oncor Transmission and Distribution Utility.

The wires and poles that deliver power to your home do not change when you switch electricity providers. Therefore the reliability of your service is not affected.

You can choose any date within 14 days of your contract expiration date without an “early termination” penalty. That’s Texas Law.

If you’re still under contract, check how many months remain on your contract. You can set a future start date with most companies up to 6o days in advance.

The amount saved each month by switching to a different electricity company may outweigh the one-time fee to get out of your contract early.

For help with this, you can send us your latest energy bill via email, and one of our professional team members will contact you shortly to discuss your best options.

If you’re ready to switch and would like to know how to find the best plan remember that knowing your usage is the best way to find the truly lowest rate.

You will want to gather your historical usage for the last 12 months to determine the best plan with the lowest rate for your household.

Did You Know?

HISTORICAL

Alleyton was founded in 1859 and named after James Alley, who established a trading post along the Colorado River. The town served as a crucial river port during the 19th century, with steamboats regularly carrying cotton, cattle, and supplies between inland Texas and the Gulf Coast. During the Civil War, Alleyton became a Confederate supply depot, and its strategic location made it a vital link in Texas's wartime logistics network.

RECENT

In 2020, Alleyton completed a major infrastructure improvement project that upgraded its water distribution system and installed new fiber optic internet lines throughout the community. This $2.3 million investment has attracted several remote workers and small tech businesses to relocate to the area, breathing new economic life into this historic river town.

FAMOUS PEOPLE

Country music songwriter and producer Red Lane, who penned hits for Merle Haggard including 'The Fugitive' and 'If We Make It Through December,' was born and raised in Alleyton. Lane's childhood experiences along the Colorado River heavily influenced his songwriting style, and he often returned to Alleyton throughout his career to find inspiration for his music.

DID YOU KNOW

Alleyton is home to one of Texas's last remaining hand-operated swing bridges, built in 1936 to cross Skull Creek. The bridge still functions today and must be manually opened by turning a large wheel whenever boats need to pass through. Local legend says the bridge has only gotten stuck twice in its 87-year history, both times during particularly humid summer days when the metal expanded.

CULTURAL

Every October, Alleyton hosts the annual 'River Days Festival,' a three-day celebration that recreates the town's 1800s steamboat era with period costumes, blacksmith demonstrations, and authentic riverboat rides on the Colorado River. The festival features a unique tradition where locals compete in the 'Cotton Bale Roll,' racing 400-pound cotton bales down Main Street just as their ancestors did when loading steamboats. The event draws visitors from across Texas who come to experience this authentic slice of frontier river town life.
