Yes. Texas law gives you a 14-day window before your contract end date to switch with NO early-termination fee. Find your end date on your bill, then shop it today — the expensive move is drifting onto a holdover rate.

How to Find the Best Energy Plan in Saragosa

#1 rule: Usage is key!

Discovering how much electricity you will consume monthly is the best way to find a deal on power in Saragosa. Why should you care?

The “price per kWh” you see electricity companies advertising is for an exact monthly usage (usually 2000 kWh).

Every plan uses a different equation for how your monthly statement is determined, and your monthly bill will change according to how much power you use each month.

Unless you use precisely the advertised amount each month, you will end up paying a “price per kWh” different than the one you saw advertised when you enrolled.

Fortunately, there’s a better way to shop for a power rate.

Calculating your total monthly bill based on expected monthly usage, then comparing rates by total monthly cost is the best way to shop for the lowest rate for your household.

Better still, if you have 12 months of usage history for your household, you can compare plans by total annual cost. This annualized method considers the changes in usage between the summer and winter months and is the ideal way to find the perfect energy plan for your home.

Compare Power does all this math for you instantly. What could take you hours inside a spreadsheet is now done in a few seconds.

We put the power in your hands, taking what would amount to hours of research, spreadsheets, and computations across hundreds of plans and assisting you step-by-step with the energy rate plan that’s best for your household’s consumption.

We clarify the details, disclosing all fees, so you’ll know exactly where your money is going and what to anticipate on your bill.

We then assist you in signing up with your selected energy company without leaving our website.

The bottom line is you should determine your expected or historical usage before ordering the right electricity plan for your home.

If you don’t know your usage, estimate

Suppose you recently purchased a home or business or cannot obtain 12 months usage history. In that case, you can always estimate your average monthly energy usage.

While not as optimal as having all the previous 12 months of usage, estimating your average usage is better than blindly choosing the first plan you see advertised by an electricity company at a specific usage that isn’t what you’ll consume.

Use Compare Power to shop for the best energy plan for your specific usage.

Moving to Saragosa: Setting up Electricity

If this is your first time setting up an electricity service in Saragosa, you need to get the previous 12 months of energy usage for your new home to get the best rate.

Ask the previous homeowner to provide you with their past 12 months of usage.

This information is readily found in recent billing statements.

Acquiring usage for the past 12 months may take effort, but the time (and savings) will be well worth it.

Once you have historical usage, Compare Power will do the math instantly to help you find the best plan for your home’s usage pattern.

Note: If you cannot obtain historical usage information, a second option would be to estimate your future usage using our “Help Me Choose” tool. By simply entering your zip code, the tool can assess your home’s projected electricity consumption.

Sign-up for a plan instantly through Compare Power. We will remind you when it’s time to return to switch and save at the end of the plan length you decide on.

Switching Electricity Companies in Saragosa

Switching is good. Market conditions are constantly in flux, so it is essential to shop for a lower price every year when your contract is about to expire.

Your existing electricity company will typically raise your energy rate once your term expires. If you do not act, you’ll be left on a month-to-month rate significantly more than the plan you signed up for.

Before renewing your contract, shop the rates of competing energy companies.

Switching can save you hundreds or thousands of dollars yearly on your energy bill.

Switching is easy:

  • You don’t have to call your current company to cancel (no “break-up call”)
  • No one comes to your home
  • There is no disruption in your power supply
  • It takes just minutes

When you switch, your new energy provider will handle everything for you, including terminating service with your previous company.

Your lights stay on when you switch. Electricity in Saragosa is all delivered by the Oncor Transmission and Distribution Utility.

The wires and poles that deliver power to your home do not change when you switch energy providers. Therefore the reliability of your service is not affected.

You can choose any date within 14 days of your contract expiration without an “early cancellation” penalty. That’s Texas Law.

If you’re still under contract, find out how many months remain on your contract. You can set a future start date with most companies up to 6o days in advance.

The amount saved each month by switching to a different electricity company may outweigh the one-time fee to get out of your contract early.

If you’re ready to switch and would like to know how to find the best plan remember that knowing your usage is the best way to find the lowest rate.

Keep in mind that when you get ready to switch and you want to know the most efficient way to find the right plan at the best rate, it is essential that you first understand your usage. To accomplish that, you must collect the usage history for the past 12 months.

Saragosa Electricity Rates FAQs

Did You Know?

HISTORICAL

Saragosa was founded in 1881 as a railroad town along the Texas and Pacific Railway, serving as a water stop and supply point for trains crossing the harsh West Texas desert. The town was named after Zaragoza, Spain, reflecting the Hispanic heritage of many early settlers who came to work on the railroad and establish ranches in the area.

RECENT

In 2017, Saragosa completed a major infrastructure improvement project that upgraded the town's water treatment facility and installed new water lines throughout the community. This $2.8 million project, funded through state and federal grants, ensures reliable water service for residents and supports the town's agricultural economy for decades to come.

OTHER

FAMOUS PEOPLE/EVENTS: Saragosa gained national attention in 1987 when it was struck by an F4 tornado that killed 30 people and destroyed most of the town, including the community center where a Head Start graduation was taking place. The tragedy led to improved tornado warning systems across West Texas and demonstrated the resilience of small-town America as the community rebuilt with help from across the nation.

DID YOU KNOW

Saragosa sits at an elevation of 2,890 feet above sea level, making it one of the highest incorporated towns in Texas. The town experiences over 300 days of sunshine per year and has some of the clearest night skies in the continental United States, with virtually no light pollution for hundreds of miles in any direction.

CULTURAL

Despite its tiny population of fewer than 400 residents, Saragosa maintains a strong Hispanic cultural identity with an annual Cinco de Mayo celebration that draws visitors from across West Texas. The town's small Catholic church, rebuilt after the 1987 tornado, serves as the community's cultural heart and hosts traditional Mexican folk masses and festivals throughout the year.
