How to find the best energy plan in Kendleton

#1 rule: Usage is king!

Determining the amount of energy you will consume in a month is the ideal way to find a deal on energy in Kendleton. Why is this important?

The rate you see power providers advertising is for an exact monthly usage (typically 2000 kWh).

Every plan uses a different equation for how your monthly bill is determined, and your monthly bill will vary depending on how much energy you use in the month.

Unless you match the exact advertised usage each month, you will end up paying an effective “price per kWh” different than the one you saw advertised when you enrolled.

Fortunately, there’s a better way to choose your electricity rate.

Calculating your expected monthly bill based on anticipated monthly usage, then comparing plans by total monthly cost is the best way to shop for the best rate for you.

Even better, if you have a year of usage history for your home, you can compare plans by total annual cost. This annualized method considers the changes in usage between the summer and winter months and is the ideal way to determine your home’s ideal energy rate plan.

Compare Power does all the complicated math for you in an instant. What takes hours inside a spreadsheet is now done in just moments.

We put the power in your hands, taking what would amount to hours of research, spreadsheets, and computations across hundreds of plans and navigating you step-by-step to the energy plan that’s best for your home’s usage.

We clarify the details, disclosing all fees, so you’ll know precisely where your money is going and what to anticipate on your bill.

We then assist you in enrolling with your selected electricity provider without leaving our website.

The bottom line is you should determine your expected or historical usage before selecting the right electricity plan for your home.

If you don’t know your usage, estimate

If you cannot acquire 12 months of historical usage, or you’re the owner of a brand new home, the next best thing is to estimate how much energy you will use in an average month.

Although knowing the previous 12 months of usage is optimum, it is far better to estimate the average energy consumption than to select the first electricity provider that you see advertised. After all, you have no idea how much energy you will use at that point.

Use Compare Power to shop for the best electricity plan for your specific usage.

Moving to Kendleton: Setting up Electricity

If this is your first time setting up electricity service in Kendleton, to get the best rate, you need to get the previous 12 months of energy usage for your new home.

Ask the previous homeowner to provide you with their past 12 months of usage.

This information is readily found in recent billing statements.

Acquiring usage for the past 12 months may take effort, but the time (and savings) will be well worth it.

Once you have historical usage, Compare Power will do the math instantly to help you find the best plan for your home’s usage pattern.

Note: If you cannot obtain historical usage information, a second option would be to estimate your future usage using our “Help Me Choose” tool. By simply entering your zip code, the tool can assess your home’s projected electricity consumption.

Sign-up for a plan in minutes through Compare Power. We will remind you when it’s time to return to switch and save at the end of the plan length you decide on.

Switching Electricity Companies in Kendleton

Switching is good. Market conditions are always in flux, so it is essential to shop for a lower price each year when your contract is close to expiring.

Your existing electricity company will normally raise your energy rate once your contract expires. If you do not take action, you’ll be left on a month-to-month rate significantly higher than the plan you signed up for.

Electric plug on hundred dollar bills with utility bill showing balance and electric charges

Before renewing your contract, shop the rates of competing energy providers.

Switching can save you hundreds or thousands of dollars yearly on your electricity bill.

Switching is easy:

  • You don’t have to call your current company to cancel (no “break-up call”)
  • No one comes to your home
  • There is no disruption in your electricity supply
  • It takes just minutes

When you make the switch, your new energy provider will handle everything for you, including terminating service with your previous provider.

There is no loss of power when you switch. Electricity in Kendleton is all delivered by the Oncor Transmission and Distribution Utility.

The wires and poles that deliver electricity to your home do not change when you switch electricity providers. Therefore the reliability of your service is not affected.

You can choose any date up to 14 days before your current contract’s end date without an “early termination” penalty. That’s Texas Law.

If you’re still under contract, find out how many months remain on your contract. You can set a future start date with most providers up to 6o days in advance.

The amount saved each month by switching to a different electricity company may outweigh the one-time fee to get out of your contract early.

If you’re ready to switch and want to know how to find the best plan, remember that knowing your usage is the best way to find the best rate.

Keep in mind that when you get ready to switch and you want to know the most efficient way to find the right plan at the best rate, it is essential that you first understand your usage. To accomplish that, you will need to collect the usage history for the past 12 months.

Kendleton Electricity Rates FAQs

Did You Know?

HISTORICAL

Kendleton was founded in 1884 by William E. Kendall, a white landowner who sold plots of land to formerly enslaved African Americans seeking to establish their own community after Reconstruction. The town became one of the first all-black incorporated cities in Texas, serving as a beacon of hope and self-determination for African American families throughout the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

RECENT

In 2019, Kendleton made national headlines when it became one of the smallest cities in America to receive a federal grant for infrastructure improvements. The $2.3 million USDA grant helped the city upgrade its aging water system and repair roads, marking the first major infrastructure investment in decades for this historically underserved community.

FAMOUS PEOPLE

Kendleton was home to several prominent African American educators and civil rights activists, including Professor George Washington Carver who visited the town multiple times in the early 1900s to teach agricultural techniques. The town also produced numerous teachers who went on to establish schools throughout rural Texas during the Jim Crow era, when educational opportunities for Black children were severely limited.

DID YOU KNOW

Kendleton is one of only four remaining all-black incorporated towns in Texas, and at just 1.2 square miles, it's smaller than many shopping malls. Despite its tiny size, the town has maintained its own municipal government, police force, and utilities for over 135 years, making it a remarkable example of African American self-governance and community resilience in the post-Civil War South.

CULTURAL

Every year since 1899, Kendleton has hosted an annual Juneteenth celebration that draws visitors from across Texas and beyond. The festival features traditional gospel music, barbecue, and storytelling sessions where elderly residents share oral histories of the town's founding families, preserving the unique cultural heritage of this historic African American community for future generations.
