Who delivers electricity in Lewisville

TNMP owns and maintains the poles, wires, and meters in Lewisville. Whichever plan you pick, TNMP still delivers the power and restores outages — switching providers never changes your wires. Every price on this page already includes TNMP delivery charges. If a rate elsewhere looks lower, check whether delivery is in it yet.

Quick answers

Lewisville electricity questions, answered

As of August 2026, plans we offer in the TNMP territory average 16.6¢ per kWh at 1,000 kWh of monthly use, and today’s lowest effective rate is 8.2¢. Advertised rates move with your usage, so price plans at your own numbers.

TNMP is Lewisville’s transmission and delivery utility. It owns the wires and meters and restores outages. You choose your retail electricity provider; TNMP delivers no matter who you pick.

Yes — most Lewisville addresses have smart meters, so orders placed by 5 p.m. on a business day can start the same day. Pick your start date at checkout, up to 90 days ahead.

Compare effective rates at YOUR usage, not advertised rates — fees and bill credits bend each plan differently. Check the contract length and cancellation fee, then confirm delivery charges are included. The tables on this page do all three, and checkout takes about ten minutes.

Yes. Texas law gives you a 14-day window before your contract end date to switch with NO early-termination fee. Find your end date on your bill, then shop it today — the expensive move is drifting onto a holdover rate.

It changes with your usage. The lowest effective rate we price in Lewisville today is 8.2¢ per kWh at 1,000 kWh — but a plan that wins at 1,000 kWh can lose at 2,000. Enter your ZIP and usage to see which company is cheapest for your home.

We currently price 122 plans in Lewisville, every one from a PUCT-licensed provider we work with, priced with delivery included.

One benefit of deregulation is that a homeowner or business owner in Lewisville can find inexpensive rates from companies competing for new accounts. Compare Power allows you to compare rate quotes from up to 100 providers at a time. This online tool makes finding, selecting, and saving on your next energy plan simple.

How to Find the Best Energy Plan in Lewisville

#1 rule: Know your usage!

Knowing your monthly energy usage is the best way to shop for inexpensive rates in Lewisville. Why?

The “price per kWh” energy companies advertise depends on a single rate rather than your usage.

Every plan calculates your monthly bill differently, meaning your bill may vary significantly from provider to provider.

Unless you use the advertised amount of energy per month, you will pay an actual price different from your initial quote.

Fortunately, there’s a better way to shop for energy in Lewisville.

The best way to shop for an inexpensive electricity rate is to calculate your monthly usage over the previous year. With this information, Compare Power will handle the rest of your research.

The site puts you in the driver’s seat by compiling all possible providers and their quotes on your screen. Compare Power’s search tool shows base prices and fees often left in the fine print.

Compare Power also lets you sign up with your chosen provider without ever leaving the site. You only need your zip code and monthly usage rate to get started.

If you don’t know your usage, estimate

If you cannot acquire the previous year of usage, or you’re the owner of a new home, the next best thing is to estimate how much energy you will use each month.

Estimating your average usage is not perfect, but it is better than choosing the first plan you see advertised by an electricity provider that doesn’t meet your needs.

Use Compare Power to find the best energy plan for your specific usage.

Acquiring usage numbers may take effort, but the time and savings will help your bottom line.

Compare Power does the math in seconds to help you find the best plan for your home’s usage pattern.

Note: You can estimate your monthly usage if you can’t obtain a usage history. Utilize the “Help Me Choose” tool when you enter your zip code below to receive help evaluating your usage.

Sign up for a plan instantly through Compare Power. The site reminds you when it is time to come back to switch your plan.

Switching Electricity Companies in Lewisville

Choosing a new electric provider helps your budget. Because market conditions change constantly, you must shop for a better price every year toward the end of your contract.

Your current electricity company may increase your electricity rate as your contract expires.

Electric plug on hundred dollar bills with utility bill showing balance and electric charges

Before renewing your contract, shop around for better deals from energy providers. Switching your provider can save significant amounts of money on your monthly bill.

Switching is easy:

  • No uncomfortable conversation to end your contract
  • No visit to your home
  • No disruption of power
  • No need to spend hours making the switch

When you switch providers, your new company will handle transition tasks, including canceling your former plan. You won’t experience a loss of power because the wires and poles delivering power to your home will not change.

State law allows you to cancel your power plan within two weeks of your contract’s end without an early cancellation policy. It’s possible to set a future start date with most providers within 60 days of the end of your contract.

Even if you have more than 60 days on your contract, it’s possible that switching providers and paying a fee is more budget-friendly than staying with an expensive plan.

You only need your household power usage for the past year to get the best quotes to get started.

Lewisville Electricity Rates FAQs

Did You Know?

HISTORICAL

Lewisville was founded in 1844 by Basdeal Lewis, who established a general store and blacksmith shop along the old Preston Trail. The settlement grew as a vital stop for cattle drives heading north to Kansas, and Lewis's store became the unofficial post office, leading to the town being named in his honor when it was officially incorporated in 1925.

RECENT

In 2020, Lewisville completed construction of the $65 million Lewisville Grand Theater, a state-of-the-art performing arts venue that seats 1,600 people. The theater has already hosted major touring Broadway productions and serves as the new home for the annual Lewisville Western Days festival, marking a significant cultural milestone for the city.

FAMOUS PEOPLE

Country music superstar Kelly Clarkson lived in Lewisville during her high school years and graduated from Burleson High School in nearby Burleson before moving back to the area. She often credits her North Texas roots for keeping her grounded during her rise to fame after winning the first season of American Idol in 2002.

DID YOU KNOW

Lewisville Lake, created in 1955, was originally called Garza-Little Elm Reservoir until the city successfully lobbied to have it renamed after their town. The lake now covers 29,000 acres and is one of the most popular recreational destinations in North Texas, but it actually extends into five different counties and serves as a major water source for the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.

CULTURAL

Lewisville is home to the annual Western Days festival, which began in 1978 and has grown into one of Texas's largest community celebrations, attracting over 400,000 visitors each year. The four-day festival features a massive carnival, live country music concerts, a championship rodeo, and the famous Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area, where visitors can experience authentic Old West activities and learn about local wildlife conservation efforts.
