Who delivers electricity in Gustine

TNMP owns and maintains the poles, wires, and meters in Gustine. Whichever plan you pick, TNMP still delivers the power and restores outages — switching providers never changes your wires. Every price on this page already includes TNMP delivery charges. If a rate elsewhere looks lower, check whether delivery is in it yet.

Quick answers

Gustine electricity questions, answered

As of August 2026, plans we offer in the TNMP territory average 16.6¢ per kWh at 1,000 kWh of monthly use, and today’s lowest effective rate is 8.2¢. Advertised rates move with your usage, so price plans at your own numbers.

Yes — most Gustine addresses have smart meters, so orders placed by 5 p.m. on a business day can start the same day. Pick your start date at checkout, up to 90 days ahead.

Compare effective rates at YOUR usage, not advertised rates — fees and bill credits bend each plan differently. Check the contract length and cancellation fee, then confirm delivery charges are included. The tables on this page do all three, and checkout takes about ten minutes.

Yes. Texas law gives you a 14-day window before your contract end date to switch with NO early-termination fee. Find your end date on your bill, then shop it today — the expensive move is drifting onto a holdover rate.

It changes with your usage. The lowest effective rate we price in Gustine today is 8.2¢ per kWh at 1,000 kWh — but a plan that wins at 1,000 kWh can lose at 2,000. Enter your ZIP and usage to see which company is cheapest for your home.

How to find the best energy plan in Gustine

#1 rule: Know your usage!

Knowing how much electricity you will use monthly is the ideal way to find a deal on energy in Gustine. Why does this matter?

The rate you see power providers advertising is for an exact monthly usage (usually 2000 kWh).

Every plan uses a different calculation for how your monthly bill is determined, and your monthly bill will vary depending on how much electricity you use each month.

Unless you use exactly the advertised amount each month, you will end up paying an effective “price per kWh” different than the one you saw advertised when you ordered.

Fortunately, there’s a better way to choose your electricity company.

Calculating your total monthly bill based on expected monthly usage, then comparing plans by total monthly cost is the best way to shop for the best rate for your household.

Better still, if you have 12 months of usage history for your household, you can compare plans by total annual cost. This annualized method considers the changes in usage between the summer and winter months and is the best way to determine your home’s ideal energy rate plan.

Compare Power does all this math for you in an instant. What could take you hours on a spreadsheet is now done in a few moments.

We put the power in your hands, taking what would amount to hours of research, spreadsheets, and calculations across hundreds of offers and navigating you step-by-step to the energy plan that’s best for your home’s usage.

We clarify the fine print, disclosing the various charges, so you’ll know precisely where your money is going and what to expect on your monthly bill.

We then assist you in enrolling with your selected electricity provider without ever having to leave our website.

The takeaway here is you must understand your expected or historical usage before selecting the best energy plan for your home.

If you don’t know your usage, estimate

If you cannot acquire 12 months of historical usage, or you’re the owner of a brand new home, the next best thing is to estimate how much energy you will use in an average month.

While not as optimal as having all the previous 12 months of usage, estimating your average usage is better than blindly choosing the first plan you see advertised by an energy provider at a specific usage that isn’t what you’ll consume.

Use Compare Power to shop for the best energy plan for your**specific usage.

Moving to Gustine: Setting up electricity

If this is your first time setting up electricity service in Gustine, to get the best rate, you need to get the previous 12 months of energy usage for your new home.

Ask the previous homeowner to provide you with their past 12 months of usage.

This information is readily found in recent billing statements.

Acquiring usage for the past 12 months may take effort, but the time (and savings) will be well worth it.

Once you have historical usage, Compare Power will do the math instantly to help you find the best plan for your home’s usage pattern.

Note: If you cannot obtain historical usage information, a second option would be to estimate your future usage using our “Help Me Choose” tool. By simply entering your zip code, the tool can assess your home’s projected electricity consumption.

Sign-up for a plan instantly through Compare Power. We will remind you when it’s time to return to switch and save at the end of the plan length you decide on.

Switching electricity companies in Gustine

Switching is good. Market conditions are always changing, so it is essential to shop for a lower price every year when your contract is about to expire.

Your existing energy company will normally raise your electricity rate once your contract expires. If you do not take action, you’ll be left on a month-to-month rate significantly higher than the plan you signed up for.

Electric plug on hundred dollar bills with utility bill showing balance and electric charges

Before renewing your contract, shop the rates of competing energy providers.

Switching can save you hundreds or thousands of dollars yearly on your electricity bill.

Switching is easy:

When you decide to switch, your new electricity company will take care of everything for you, including terminating service with your previous company.

Your lights stay on when you switch. Electricity in Gustine is all delivered by the Oncor Transmission and Distribution Utility.

The wires and poles that deliver electricity to your home do not change when you switch electricity companies. Therefore the reliability of your service is not affected.

You can pick any date up to 14 days early from your current contract’s end date without an “early termination” fee. That’s Texas Law.

If you’re still under contract, find out how many months remain on your contract. You can set a future start date with most companies up to 6o days in advance.

And even if you’re well inside your contract, savings achieved on your monthly bill by switching companies may outweigh the fee to break your existing contract.

If you’re ready to switch and want to know how to find the best plan, remember that understanding your usage is the best way to find the best rate.

Keep in mind that when you get ready to switch and you want to know the most efficient way to find the right plan at the best rate, it is essential that you first understand your usage. To accomplish that, you will need to collect the usage history for the past 12 months.

Did You Know?

HISTORICAL

Gustine was founded in 1881 when the Santa Fe Railroad came through the area, and was named after Augustine Haidusek, a Bohemian immigrant who owned land where the town was established. The town became a vital shipping point for cattle and cotton in Comanche County, serving as a gateway between the farming communities and larger markets to the east.

RECENT

In 2020, Gustine completed a major downtown revitalization project that restored several historic buildings along Main Street and added new sidewalks and period lighting. The project was funded through a combination of state grants and local fundraising efforts, bringing new life to the small town's commercial district.

FAMOUS PEOPLE

Country music songwriter and performer Red Steagall, known for penning hits like 'Lone Star Beer and Bob Wills Music' and 'Here We Go Again,' spent part of his childhood in Gustine. He later became the official Cowboy Poet of Texas and was inducted into the Western Music Hall of Fame, often crediting his small-town Texas roots for his authentic cowboy poetry and music.

DID YOU KNOW

Gustine is home to one of the last remaining original Santa Fe Railroad depots in Central Texas, built in 1902 and still standing today. The depot served as the town's lifeline to the outside world for decades, and local legend says that during Prohibition, it was a secret stop for bootleggers transporting illegal liquor between Fort Worth and San Angelo.

CULTURAL

Every October, Gustine hosts the annual Peanut Festival, celebrating the area's agricultural heritage as one of Texas's peanut-growing regions. The festival features a peanut recipe contest, live music, and the crowning of a Peanut Queen, drawing visitors from across Comanche County to this tiny town that proves size doesn't matter when it comes to community spirit.
