Who delivers electricity in Bailey

TNMP owns and maintains the poles, wires, and meters in Bailey. Whichever plan you pick, TNMP still delivers the power and restores outages — switching providers never changes your wires. Every price on this page already includes TNMP delivery charges. If a rate elsewhere looks lower, check whether delivery is in it yet.

Bailey electricity questions, answered

As of August 2026, plans we offer in the TNMP territory average 16.6¢ per kWh at 1,000 kWh of monthly use, and today’s lowest effective rate is 8.2¢. Advertised rates move with your usage, so price plans at your own numbers.

Yes — most Bailey addresses have smart meters, so orders placed by 5 p.m. on a business day can start the same day. Pick your start date at checkout, up to 90 days ahead.

Compare effective rates at YOUR usage, not advertised rates — fees and bill credits bend each plan differently. Check the contract length and cancellation fee, then confirm delivery charges are included. The tables on this page do all three, and checkout takes about ten minutes.

Yes. Texas law gives you a 14-day window before your contract end date to switch with NO early-termination fee. Find your end date on your bill, then shop it today — the expensive move is drifting onto a holdover rate.

How to find the best energy plan in Bailey

#1 rule: Know your usage!

Discovering the amount of energy you will consume in a month is the best way to shop for electricity in Bailey. Why is this so vital?

The rate you see energy companies advertising is for an exact monthly usage (typically 2000 kWh).

Every plan has a different calculation for how your monthly bill is computed, and your monthly bill will vary depending on how much energy you use each month.

Unless you use exactly the advertised amount each month, you will end up paying an effective “price per kWh” different than what you observed when you signed up.

Thankfully, there’s a better way to choose your energy company.

Calculating your total monthly bill based on anticipate monthly usage, then comparing plans by total monthly bill, is the best way to shop for the best rate for you.

Better still, if you have 12 months of usage history for your home, you can compare plans by total annual cost. This annualized method takes into account the changes in usage between the summer and winter months and is the ideal way to determine the right energy rate plan for your home.

Compare Power does all the complicated math for you instantly. What takes hours on a spreadsheet is now done in a few moments.

We put you in the driver’s seat, taking what would amount to hours of investigation, spreadsheets, and calculations across hundreds of plans and guide you step-by-step to the electricity plan that’s best for your household’s consumption.

We clarify the fine print, disclosing the various charges and fees, so you’ll know precisely where your money is going and what to anticipate on your monthly bill.

We then help you in signing up with your selected electricity provider without ever having to leave our website.

The bottom line is you should know your expected or historical usage before ordering the best energy plan for your home.

If you don’t know your usage, estimate

If you recently purchased a home or business, or you cannot obtain 12-months of usage history, you can always estimate the average amount of energy that you will use in any given month.

While not as optimal as having all the previous 12 months of usage, estimating your average usage is better than blindly picking the first plan you see advertised by an electricity company at a specific usage that isn’t what you’ll consume.

Use Compare Power to shop for the best electricity plan for your**specific usage.

Moving to Bailey: Setting up electricity

If this is your first time setting up electricity service in Bailey, to get the best rate you need to get the previous 12 months of energy usage for your new home.

Ask the previous home-owner to provide you with their past 12 months of usage.

This information is readily found in recent billing statements.

It may take some effort to acquire usage for the past 12 months, but the time (and savings) will be well worth it.

Once you have historical usage, Compare Power will do the math instantly to help you find the best plan for your home’s usage pattern.

Note: If you can’t obtain usage history, you can estimate your monthly usage instead. Utilize our “Help Me Choose” tool when you enter your zip code below and we’ll help you evaluate your home’s usage.

Sign-up for a plan instantly through Compare Power. We will remind you when its time to come back to switch and save at the end of the plan length you decide on.

Switching electricity companies in Bailey

Switching is good. Market conditions are always changing, so it is important to shop for a lower rate every year when your contract is close to expiring.

Your existing electricity company will typically raise your energy rate once your contract expires. If you do not take action, you’ll be left on a month-to-month rate that is significantly more than the plan you signed up for.

Electric plug on hundred dollar bills with utility bill showing balance and electric charges

Before renewing your contract make sure to check the rates of competing energy providers.

Switching can save you hundreds or thousands of dollars each year on your electricity bill.

Switching is easy:

When you decide to switch, your new energy provider will handle everything for you including canceling service with your previous provider.

There is no loss of power when you switch. Electricity in Bailey is all delivered by the Oncor Transmission and Distribution Utility.

The wires and poles that deliver power to your home do not change when you switch energy companies. Therefore the reliability of your service is not affected.

You can choose any date up to 14 days early of your current contract’s end date without an “early cancellation” penalty. That’s Texas Law.

If you’re still under contract, find out how many months remain on your contract. You can set a future start date with most companies up to 6o days in advance.

The amount saved each month by switching to a different electricity company may outweigh the one-time fee to get out of your contract early.

If you are unsure email us your latest energy bill and one of our team members will get back to you promptly with your best options.

If you’re ready to switch and would like to know how to find the best plan remember that understanding your usage is the best way to find the truly best price.

Keep in mind that when you get ready to switch, and you want to know the most efficient way to find the right plan at the best rate, it is essential that you first understand your usage. To accomplish that, you will need to collect the usage history for the past 12 months.

Did You Know?

HISTORICAL

Bailey was founded in 1873 as a railroad town along the Missouri, Kansas and Texas Railroad, commonly known as the 'Katy.' The town was named after Bailey Inglish, a prominent local landowner who donated land for the railroad depot. The arrival of the railroad transformed the area from scattered farms into a thriving agricultural shipping center that served the broader Fannin County region.

RECENT

In 2020, Bailey completed a major downtown revitalization project that restored several historic buildings along Main Street, including the old general store and train depot. The project was funded through a combination of state historic preservation grants and local fundraising efforts, bringing new life to the small community's commercial district.

FAMOUS PEOPLE

Bailey was the childhood home of country music songwriter Red Lane, who penned numerous hits for major artists including 'The World Needs a Melody' recorded by Wynonna Judd and 'If You're Not Gone Too Long' by Merle Haggard. Lane grew up on a farm outside Bailey in the 1940s and often credited his small-town upbringing for inspiring his storytelling approach to songwriting.

DID YOU KNOW

Bailey is home to one of the last remaining original Katy Railroad depots in Northeast Texas, built in 1873 and still standing in its original location. The depot served as the town's unofficial community center for decades, hosting everything from town meetings to wedding receptions, and local legend claims it was once visited by outlaw Frank James, brother of Jesse James, who allegedly hid out in the area in the 1880s.

CULTURAL

Every October, Bailey hosts the annual 'Depot Days' festival, celebrating the town's railroad heritage with vintage train displays, bluegrass music, and traditional crafts demonstrations. The festival draws visitors from across Northeast Texas and features a unique tradition where locals dress in period railroad worker costumes and reenact the town's founding story, complete with a mock arrival of the first Katy train in 1873.
