Compare effective rates at YOUR usage, not advertised rates — fees and bill credits bend each plan differently. Check the contract length and cancellation fee, then confirm delivery charges are included. The tables on this page do all three, and checkout takes about ten minutes.

Did You Know?

HISTORICAL

Lubbock was founded in 1890 through the merger of two rival settlements, Old Lubbock and Monterey, after a bitter feud over which would become the county seat. The compromise created a new town exactly halfway between the two, named after Confederate Colonel Thomas Saltus Lubbock, and the original settlements were abandoned as residents moved to the new unified city.

RECENT

In 2020, Lubbock became the largest city in Texas to transition from a regulated to a deregulated electricity market, giving its 260,000+ residents the power to choose their energy provider for the first time. This historic change opened up competition among dozens of retail electric providers, potentially saving residents millions annually on their utility bills.

FAMOUS PEOPLE

Lubbock is the birthplace of rock and roll legend Buddy Holly, who revolutionized popular music in the 1950s with hits like 'Peggy Sue' and 'That'll Be the Day.' The city honors its most famous son with the Buddy Holly Center and an annual music festival, and his distinctive thick-rimmed glasses have become an iconic symbol displayed throughout downtown Lubbock.

DID YOU KNOW

Lubbock sits on one of the world's largest underground freshwater sources, the Ogallala Aquifer, but the city is also home to the National Ranching Heritage Center which preserves 50 authentic ranch buildings from the 1780s to 1950s. Visitors can walk through a complete frontier town including a one-room schoolhouse, blacksmith shop, and even an authentic 1909 depot, all relocated from their original sites across the American West.

CULTURAL

Lubbock proudly calls itself the 'Hub City' because it sits at the geographic center of the South Plains region, with major highways radiating out like spokes on a wheel. The city has embraced this identity so thoroughly that the local minor league baseball team is called the Lubbock Cotton Kings, and the downtown area features a massive metal sculpture called 'The Hub' that serves as a popular gathering place and symbol of the city's central importance to West Texas.
